FTEC, Wednesday Night

Natalie was surprised to find the clinic so full -- and not pleasantly surprised. She was even less thrilled when she began to review the patient charts. Dr. Wilson had done a good job patching everyone up, but the injuries were still worrisome. She was once again struck by the senselessness in attacking kids, even ones as mature and well-armed as the ones in Fandom.

With a sigh, she made her rounds. She checked bandages and fluids, then settled in to do some requisition forms. Both the lab and the clinic would need restocking after this.

[Patient rooms up... Please wait for patients to ping in.]

If she wasn't at the desk, Nat was likely running around, checking on patients and supplies.

Chad "escaped" earlier.

Natalie noted the room was empty and frowned. She made a notation in his clinic chart, sighing. Mentally, she wondered about the plausibility of sending law enforcement after him and having him dragged back to the clinic for his own safety.

He was resting a little more comfortably than he had this morning, and with Phoebe's bed from exam room 3 still in here near his, and Bel here with them as well, Anders was in pretty decent spirits.

Bel was indeed there, watching over Phoebe and Anders, occasionally allowing himself to catnap.

Every now and then Anders would wake up, glance over at him, and smile.

It was nice to feel cared about.

Phoebe was sleeping a little better than she had during the day thanks to the pain medicine in her IV and the fact that she was in the same room with Anders and Cole was right there with them.

Phoebe's name may have been listed for Exam 3, but earlier in the day, Bel had moved her to Exam 2 so he could watch over her and Anders together.

Nat had noted yet another empty room, refraining from calling the authorities when she discovered Phoebe sharing the room with Anders. She left the rooms separate, but made a note for the day shift.

Lana dozed uneasily, waking every now and again with a start. She really didn't want to wake up screaming from the nightmares.

And Jim is here, doing just about the same thing, only sitting in the chair beside the bed instead of on it.

At some point Lana woke up and reached out to touch him. "Jim... will you sleep with me?" Yes, it would be tight, but she just needed him closer.

Jim looked around. "Can I? I don't want to hurt you or anything . . ."

She carefully slid herself over. "I'll be fine. I'll be so much better if I can hold onto you."

Jim hesitated a moment but he wasn't about to deny her anything. So he carefully perched on the edge of the bed, taking his cues from her and moving slowly.

She tugged him further onto the bed and wrapped her arms around him, slowly and carefully resting her head on his shoulder. "Better," she said. "I need you with me."

"I've been here the whole time." Jim carefully looked for a place to kiss and located a patch of forehead that seemed safe. "I'm always here for you."

"I know, but I meant here in my bed, holding me," she explained.

"Okay. That I can do." Jim ran his fingers over her arm. "How are you feeling?"

"Head hurts a lot and I'm exhausted," she admitted. "But otherwise I'm okay."

"You call that okay?" he tried to tease lightly. "You have to stop hitting your head."

"I know," she said ruefully. "I get more concussions than anyone else in the world, I think."

"Well stop. It isn't healthy."

Lana smiled, letting her eyes flutter shut. "I'll try," she said sleepily.

"Sleeping again?" he asked quietly, stroking her arm again.

"Tired," she said. "So tired. But I'm afraid I'll have more nightmares and wake everyone up."

"I'll wake you up before they get that bad."

"Promise?"

"Promise." Jim sealed it with another light kiss to her uninjured temple.

She let out a deep breath. "Okay," she said. "Then yes, sleeping, I think."

"I'm right here, looking after you."

"I know," she said drowsily, feeling herself start to drift off. "I'm safe."

Chad made an escape this morning and Phoebe is in with Anders so that Bel doesn't get whiplash running back and forth.

Yeah... I saw the Anders-Phoebe arrangement, but wasn't sure if it was official, so I just kinda ran with it. It can be corrected with Thursday's shift, if that works?

I'm sure they'll gravitate back to each other without much trouble. :D

Chad made an unauthorized clinic escape, so exam 1 is empty. Also, Phoebe got moved into Anders's room, so 3 is empty, but we'll just ping them in to clarify that. :)

I think we need to go back to a chart or post of some kind. The changing of the guard can get a little hairy during bloody plottiness. Especially since you guys are so chatty! Jeez! ;)

That's partly my fault. For some reason my short circuit of a brain thought that Troy was coming in after Wilson and that -heh- there wouldn't need to be a seperate update. I apologize.

Eh, partially my fault. The move and time change has made me incredibly flaky of late. Hopefully? This will improve. =\

Oh believe me, I'm playing such games to be able to manage to respond... Oy.
