FTEC - Tuesday Evening Shift 4/24
After enjoying a quiet day on the mainland with Aziraphale, Wilson managed to get them both back home just in time to get from the causeway parking lot to the clinic for his shift.
Well, okay, Aziraphale's making sure that Virginia's finest were busy stopping speeders elsewhere had helped Wilson get them home in time to get from the causeway parking lot to the clinic for his shift.
Sending the angel on up to the house to put away their new purchases, Wilson talked with the nurse and caught up on the excitement over the weekend. As it seemed the last patient had been discharged that morning, Wilson and the nurse settled in to spend the evening cleaning and restocking the used exam rooms.
Of course this would be done in between any patients who stopped by and needed care.

"Never too busy to talk with you, dear. Come on in. What's up?"

"You want to spend your summer...in school?" He asked with a curious arch of his eyebrows.

"Mmm...you'll have me on any forms as contact point?" He said with an understanding little smile, that was perhaps a bit sad as it would have been wonderful to have Marie around for the summer but he could hardly stand in her way on something so important.

"Good evening, Ms. Roslin. How can I help you?"

Laura found she couldn't come out and say it. Not aloud. I need a pregnancy test. It should have been that simple. But for a woman who thought these years were behind her, it wasn't that simple.

So he smiled and took a step back, waving her towards the hallway.
"Of course. Please, come this way to exam one (http://community.livejournal.com/fandom_clinic/317989.html?thread=8120869#t8120869) and we can talk more privately."
Exam Room 1
"Please, have a seat on the exam table."

"Usually, I have a nurse in when I examine a female patient. If you like, we can do that first and then I'll dismiss the nurse and we can talk?"

Re: Exam Room 1
Once the nurse was in the room, he began to exam. He kept things clinical but not inpersonal and attempted a couple conversational gambits focused around the school and the end of term. Wilson was quick but thorough and in short order the nurse had blood and urine samples to run through the lab in back.
When everything was complete and Laura had a chance to straighten herself back up as Wilson made notes in her chart, he turned on the little spinny stool and looked up at her.
"Now, is there something particular you are concerned about?"
Re: Exam Room 1
"After the treatment, however, I noted small changes. My energy levels were back up, my skin toned up, my hair began to grow back, thicker and fuller. I attributed most of them to the fact that I was in better health again, that my body wasn't so busy fighting the cancer that it could divert energies elsewhere.
"I also, when I had some, ah, spotting a few weeks back, thought nothing of it. I knew that it's sometimes expected when transitioning into this phase of life.
"And then I had a nine year old child show up on my doorstep...three weeks after entering into a relationship with the girl's father." She looked to Wilson with a wry grin. "I thought it might be time to find out what other surprises this stem cell treatment may have in store for me."
Re: Exam Room 1
And here he was talking to an obvious success and against one of the more aggressive forms of cancer.
Wilson rubbed at the back of his neck, trying to get his head back where it belonged and away from the battery of questions he was aching to pepper her with...intrusive questions that he had no right asking.
"Uhm..." he began, giving a lock of hair a yank to finish the process of squashing his near desperate curiosity.
"Well, as I'm sure you know, in this day and time the sort of treatment you're talking about is still very theoretical but from what I've read of it, it would fit that there could be a certain, regenerative factor given the very nature of the cells used and their purpose in the sequencing of the body's cellular structure."
Setting aside her chart he stood up and waved her towards laying down on the table.
"Let me do an ultrasound? That should allow me to take a look at the size, status and structure of your overies."

"It's my best pick up line."
As he had with the initial exam, Wilson's touch was always clinical, professional and his eyes were on the screen, obviously studying everything everything that came across the black and white fluctuating picture. He flipped the ball around, froze a couple of shots and did measurements, snapping a picture here and there before lifting the wand away from her abdomen and giving her some papertowels to wipe up the gel.
"Ah...well. I have to tell you. These measurements are more in line with what I would expect to find in a woman, twenty to thirty years younger. They are incredibly health and given their shape and form...they look to be in perfect working order."

"From what I can see, yes. It is possible. It looks like you conceive but I can't even begin to speculate how your body might react or what pregnancy would be like for you systemically speaking. But..."
He walked back over and held the folder out to her.
"The potential is there."
Re: Exam Room 1
She shook her head and regarded Wilson, tossing the towels into the waste basket. "I appreciate your seeing me, Doctor Wilson." She passed a glance over his shoulder at the door. Was the nurse ever coming back with those test results? The ultrasounds didn't seem to show anything, but Laura wanted as much confirmation as she could -- including the test results.
Re: Exam Room 1
Ask...or at least thinking about and ye shall receive.
The nurse knocked lightly on the door and when Wilson bade her to enter, she handed him a file of lab results.
Scanning them over, he pursed his lips, nodded and then handed them to Laura for her review.

He cleared his throat and tried to look like what he was about to say next was not making his cheeks pinks.
"We do have complimentary, protection. For the kids mostly but..." As he totally ran out of words that wouldn't end up digging him into some sort of foot in mouth hole, Wilson fished out the basket of little foil packets and held it out for Laura to peruse.
