FTEC, Tuesday, March 13

The clinic smelled like lysol and fish, which Christian found most unappealing. It was a nice day out, so he opened the windows to air the building out, checked on the solitary patient, girl-in-a-coma, and settled behind the desk for the day.

Pretty soon, this doctor might start to wonder about Annette's visits. Good or bad? How would she ever know that?

What was it about this man?! Annette looked down and smiled a little shly before she met his gaze once more.

"I am going on a field trip this weekend and I would like to have a...check-up. You know, just a clean bill of health sort of thing?" She wasn't sure how that sounded, so she added. "I think I might have appendicitis."

Following Dr. Troy, Annette entered the exam room and looked around before she turned back to face him. She wasn't sure if she should stand, sit, lay down...put one of those robes on...

"Sit right there on the exam table," Christian said, pointing, "and we'll check you out. "So, appendicitis? Have you been having pain in the abdomen?" He didn't buy it, but he was willing to play along.

"Okay," Annette replied and did as he asked. When she was seated on the edge, she crossed her ankles and answered him. "A little, yeah. Sort of right here." She pulled the edge of her shirt up and pointed low at her right side, just above her hip.

Annette shivered a little from his touch. "I haven't been eating as much lately." Which was true. But not from anything hurting.

"I don't feel any swelling and it doesn't seem too tender," Christian said thoughtfully. "But I should probably keep an eye on you. Have you come in for another visit if the pain keeps up."
