FTEC - Saturday Evening Shift [1/13]

After spending a mandatory quiet day resting back at the duplex, Aziraphale had bundled Wilson up, pointedly ignoring the young doctor's queary about his own winter coat and the pair had headed down to the clinic to over see the night shift. The angel promised to go out and grab them some dinner but in the meantime they had a thermos of tea and some fresh baked cookies to snack on as they sat through Wilson's shift.

Once down at the clinic, Wilson settled behind the front desk with his laptop and his notes for his next Conflict Management and Resolution class, while Phale settled into a chair with a nice fat crossword puzzle. Big Band Swing music played over the radio and both men hummed along, content in their companionable quiet for the night.

[ooc: Aziraphale modded with permission. Clinic is open!]

Aziraphale did his best to sit quietly in the corner and work his crossword. He even did a great deal less in the way of hovering and fussing than he had on Wednesday.

Despite this, however, Wilson always had a cup of hot tea at hand, and there was never any cold breeze blowing in when the clinic door opened.

Jude limped into the clinic, using his crutches for the first time in two weeks but wanting to make it at least look like he was following orders. He had that rumpled, dissipated look of someone who had either not slept in days, or did nothing but sleep for days.

He tried to perk up when he saw Wilson. "Hey, Doc."

Cookies were a very good way to bribe the angel -- as were lap-sitting and kisses -- so Aziraphale wasn't too pushy in looking after the young doctor. He did take some time to duck out and fetch their dinner conveniently during Jude's visit if you like, but that didn't really count as fussing.

Also, he didn't insist that Wilson wear a sweater under his labcoat.

"Six weeks," he said in a voice that was trying to be cheerful. He stuck out the cast that was now significantly more glittery, battered, and colourful than it had been last time Wilson had seen it. "It can come off now, right?"

Jude limped after Dr. Wilson, his crutches clattering in that way of the much-used ones. No cast meant skating again, and Jude should be almost out of his tree with joy. But he was quiet as he swung along.

Jude settled on the bed, his legs swinging a bit. "Feels good, hasn't hurt in a while. Really itchy, but that's it."

Jude had had this happen so often he really wasn't concerned any more. "'Sokay. Some of them look really cool."

And he had expected more friendly kisses upon with return, with the requested three-cheese tortellini and salad in tow. There were even sodas, since Aziraphale figured one of them might be getting just a wee bit tired of tea.

Also, there was a small serving of tiramisu. Not homemade, but the angel thought he'd be forgiven for that minor detail.

In a flash of light (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1340784.html?thread=60516464#t60516464) Mel fell from the ceiling and landed on her butt.

Hard.

"FRAKKIN' HELL!" She yelled in frustration and bolted for the door.

"Zombies!" Mel yelled over her shoulder as she ran for the door. "Caritas is under attack! Save yourselves!"

Jude held onto his belt while he switched positions, knowing that his scrawny frame often led to a little more boxer exposure than he'd really like. His leg felt weird now, soft and waaaaay too light.

"Yeah. Figured that out last semester. This whole doin' well in my classes thing is totally a new thing for me. My parents were actually right about private school."

Aziraphale, during this even, had been staring with a rather dumbfounded expression. He blinked, and then turned to answer Wilson's question.

"Er...I think she must. I wonder if they're having another theme night."

Jude managed a small smile, glad that the doc understood. "Totally."

He sat patiently and quietly through the tests, only seeming to perk up again when he was told that he was finally free.

He tentatively wiggled his foot and nodded. "Yes, please." He didn't know where his were, and the faster he got muscle control back, the faster he was back on his board.

He ducked his head in a nod, cautiously slipping off the table to test the weight. A tiny stab of pain that disappeared almost instantly, and a lot of soreness.

"I think I'm good," he said with a tiny smile as he reached for his crutches again. "Unless you wanna do the lecture again."

"So no kickflips for a couple of days," he said mellowly, moving much more slowly now as he had to get used to walking again. His balance was off, which wasn't cool for boarding anyway.
