FTEC - Saturday Evening Shift [12/16]
After spending a quiet afternoon walking on the beach, Wilson had gone back to the apartment to enjoy an early dinner with Aziraphale before he packed up his briefcase, kissed the angel...kissed the angel and headed out the door.
Getting down to the clinic he spoke briefly with the shift nurse and then settled himself down at the front desk. He had plenty to keep him busy tonight between the essays from his Philosophy course and reading up on what being Marie's legal guardian would entail. Actually, it was the latter of those that was mostly on his mind and Wilson set up his laptop so he could continue his researching on national and Virginia laws.
He hadn't had a chance to tell Phale yet about Marie's request, was still working through it in his own mind and he wanted to have all the facts before he had that conversation. Coffee perked along in the coffee pot, prepared to see him through the long night.

Impatient? Maybe a little.

"Hey there, Nadia. Let me guess, checking the status of the shoulder?"

"How about pain or discomfort? Any numbness in your arm or fingertips?"

"Let me run a couple of tests and we'll see how it looks."

"I think..." He said as they went through the exercises. "That if you will stick to a carefully mapped out regime of exercises for your arm and shoulder for the next two weeks...we can dispense with formal PT...and the brace."

After Nadia
Breezing in the door, he gave the young doctor a bright smile as he set everything on the desk. "Your dinner, James love. How has your evening been so far?"
Re: After Nadia
"Hangover gone I take it?" He teased gently as he pushed the laptop to the side to make room for the cartons of Chinese food Phale had brought through the door.
Re: After Nadia
The angel gave a little one-shouldered shrug, as he set about unpacking the food. "I suppose I'm just awfully happy to be back. I only wish I hadn't ruined it by picking fights two days in. I'm sorry, love, and I hope you're not too angry with me."
Re: After Nadia
Reaching out to grab a chair for Phale to sit in close to him as they began to divy up the food, Wilson waited until after the angel had poured out the delicious smelling tea and they were both contentedly munching, feet tangled under the desk to peer at his lover curiously.
"Um...Raphale...do you think that it's a fairly safe bet..." He began, paused and chased a water chestnut with his chopsticks, then looked back up with a little smile. "I mean...do you think we could convince Above to leave us here in Fandom as a base for the next couple of years?"
Re: After Nadia
The question caught him rather by surprise, though, and Aziraphale took a moment to think seriously about his answer.
"I...think we could at that. They did send us back here, after all, and I think they understand how important Fandom is to us. And really, we do a great deal of good here, I think. I hope we do, at any rate. Perhaps...if we made a sort of formal request, I think they would certainly consider it. Is there a reason you ask, love?"
Re: After Nadia
"Well..." He began and he paused because he knew Marie had come to him in perhaps sort of confidence but this would be a decision that would affect Phale as well and Wilson needed his lover's input.
"Marie...she's asked me to be her legal guardian."
Re: After Nadia
"Marie...D'Ancanto? You told me she'd had trouble of some sort, that her friends had to help her with...has something happened to her own family, then?"
As he fretted over what might have happened to lead to Marie's need for a guardian, the actual import of what he'd been told began to sink in, and Aziraphale blinked rapidly.
"Wait...she wants you to...good Heavens, James! That's...I think that's wonderful. What did you say?"
Re: After Nadia
"I don't know if I told you but before Thanksgiving, she came to me and asked me to mock up some medical records for her to take down to her family. A skin condition that would explain why her family couldn't touch her. She ... in her real time world, her status as a mutant would be a problem for her family, she wasn't ready to tell them yet. Something happened and her mother found out anyway. Her parents yanked her out of school, were taking her all over the place to try to get her 'fixed', to make her normal."
Plucking up a shrimp, he fed it to Phale before going back after some bean sprouts.
"She ran away. Something happened, with the kids when they went to fetch her, I'm not sure of the details but she's come back here to Fandom, Zoe Washburn has let her re-enroll but Marie...Marie's asked that her parents be removed as the contact for the school. Washburn suggested she get a legal guardian and...she asked me, yesterday."
Reaching to take a sip of his tea, Wilson peered at his laptop.
"We both agreed to think about it and talk tomorrow. I've been reading up on what my responsibilities to her would be under the law but the most important thing is, the thing she asked about was my being around for the next couple of years."
He turned back towards Phale and smiled softly. "So...I figured you and I better talk before I said anything."

"Lana?" He asked worriedly, standing up and moving around the desk to greet her.

"Lana...what happened?"

She did an awkward one shouldered shrug. "I got punched in the stomach and kicked in the shoulder which dislocated it."
no subject
"Have you checked in with the clinic since you've been back? Where were you treated initially?"

"How are you doing with the dislocated shoulder? Any lingering numbness in your arm or fingertips?"
