FTEC - Saturday Evening shift [12/09]

Wilson had spent most of the day at the apartment working on the final edit of his journal article and perhaps doing a bit of holiday shopping for friends and family.

He still wasn't up for trying to decorate the place. Eating himself a late lunch, as he didn't have an angel to bring him dinner tonight, the young doctor bundled up and headed down across the park to the clinic. He was glad to see no troll invasions or other evidence of chaos.

Upon arriving at the clinic, Wilson checked to see if there were any patients remaining and he was a little taken aback to read that Martha Kent had been discharged. Giving his head a shake, he firmly put the thought out of his mind before it threatened to overwhelm him and he repeat Wednesday night.

Not something he wanted to do.

Settling down behind the front desk with a couple of journals, his laptop and maybe some shopping catalouges, Wilson hoped for a relatively quiet night.

The Doctor stepped into the clinic.

"I have a headache that is even beyond Excedrin levels."

Looking up from the journal he was reading, Wilson gave the Doctor a sympathetic smile.

"Funny how those show up when we've spent an extended bit of a time with family."

"Please tell me I didn't harass you," the Doctor said. "I heard a few reports from the radio, but I can only imagine they barely scratched the surface."

Wilson chuckled.

"I was busy being harassed in school most of the day so I'm afraid I didn't get to meet any of the other...uh...yous."

Yes that did sound a bit strange to be saying.

The Doctor nodded. "Thank Rassilon for that," he said. "I think I traumatized my entire class."

"That's all right, Aziraphale's class traumatized me so I suspect that in the balance of the world, we're all even."

"What trauma did you encounter?" the Doctor asked.

Wilson sighed softly and ran his hand over his face.

"A student, breaking a school rule. Had to hand out detention."

"And that was traumatic?" the Doctor asked, incredulous.

Realizing that he couldn't exactly explain why it was traumatic, the gun...why Bel was carrying the gun, what had happened to Bel to make him carry the gun...why it had happened and...

"Oh bugger." Wilson said, putting his face in his hands. "It's a long story, Doctor and not my story to tell I'm afraid."

"If it's a student I should keep my eye on, it's every part of my business," the Doctor said. "But I'll leave that up to your discretion."

Continuing his tour through the town, Mercer had to stop in at the clinic and see what sort of medical facility was available.

He was suitably impressed with what he saw. "Hello."

"I spoke of the incident with Dean Washburn." Wilson said, lowering his hands and looking at the Doctor.

Coming back up to the desk, from where he'd been taking a quick inventory Wilson arched an eyebrow at the man, not recognizing him.

"Good evening, can I help you?"

"Then I trust that everything is taken care of," the Doctor said. "Sorry to hear that such action was neccessary."

"Oh, I'm not in need of any medical assistance. Merely taking a look around the town." Mercer gave him a friendly smile. "This is quite an impressive facility, I have to say."

Wilson nodded, his expression worried.

"I'm just sorry that the student is finding himself in this position."

Wilson looked a combination of bemused and some pride as well.

"Thank you, Mr... I'm sorry, I'm afraid we haven't met. Dr. James Wilson." Wilson extended his hand towards the man.

"We all make mistakes," the Doctor said. "Luckily they are all young enough that they may be properly learning from them."

Mercer took his hand and shook it firmly. "Anton Mercer," he said. "I'm in the area on business. Pleasure to meet you, Doctor Wilson."

As much as he wanted to believe that, Wilson did understand Bel's panic at being effectively helpless and he doubted that Raynor would just shrug his shoulders and wander off when he learned what happened.

"Actually, this could be fatal." He admitted. "It's not as simple as a teenage mistake, Doctor."

Returning the shake, Wilson retrieved his hand an crossed his arms.

"In the area on business?" He asked, curiously. Not many visitors happened upon Fandom without a purpose.

"I suppose we should leave it at that," the Doctor said. "My curiosity would only grow, and you've made it clear that the transgressor has your confidence, and I wouldn't ask you to betray that."

Wilson gave a nod and sat up.

"So, the other yous off on their ways back to...err...their timelines?"
