FTEC, Monday Morning

Elliot came into the clinic early and checked on Nadia and Sister Rosette before settling behind the desk with a large mug of coffee and her laptop. She idly played some solitaire, keeping an eye and ear out in case the patients or any visitors needed her.

Nadia wasn't actually feeling that much better that morning, but she was making an effort.

For one thing, she was upright and walking with only minimal leaning against the wall. This, my friends, was progress.

She made her way over to the front desk. "I'm leaving." Her voice was still rather hoarse, but her cough had for the most part gone away. "I have to get to class."

"If I watch one more episode of Packed Apartment, I'm going to learn a Very Important Lesson about murdering televisions." Nadia shrugged one shoulder. "I promise I'll only go to class and then spend the rest of the day in bed in my own room. And if I feel any worse at all, I'll come back here. I just want things to be more normal."

"Ibuprofen seems to be working, since last night. Thanks, though."

"I will. And thanks for doing your job, I guess."

Doctor Venture was going to need a refill of his 'diet pills' sooner or later. And when it came to the constant H.E.L.P.eR induced headaches, well, sooner seemed a better idea.

He entered the lobby of the clinic and approached the desk. "I need my prescription renewed."

Doctor Venture pulled out his prescription. bottle and held it out for Elliot.

"They're my diet pills," he said.

And oh, they so weren't diet pills. Prescription amphetamines, actually.

"I can give you the number for my doctor in Tijuana, if you need it."

"I'm not a medical doctor," Dr. Venture said. He pulled out a bill from his wallet and flashed it at Elliot.

"Maybe President Lincoln will change your mind?"

"What, not enough?" Dr. Venture scowled. "I'll go as high as fifty. You'd have to do way more than just give me my pills to get a President Ben Franklin off me."

"Great, just great," Dr. Venture said, rubbing his temple with one hand as he snatched for his pill bottle with the other. "I'm going to have to book a trip to Canada, aren't I? Just because little miss played-doctor-as-a-kid has job ethics."

[ooc: No, totally okay! I just wanted to pull off the attempt, that's all. He might try again later when someone more bribable is around.]

Dr. Venture even had the audacity to take one of his 'diet pills' right in front of Elliot at this point.

"I'm a certified genius!" he cried, stomping off.

Chrono wandered out into the lobby to stretch his legs from his unrelenting vigil at Rosette's side. He was totally eyeing the coffee pot. A lot. And tried to hide it with exaggerated stretches.

Chrono rubbed his eye sleepily with the back of his hand as he idly nodded. "Yes," he said, "and yes." It was followed up with a yawn.

Elliot didn't have to say another word to get the boy over to the the pot and pouring himself a cup, thinking idly to himself that if Rosette was conscious, she would make a joke right now about how he'll stunt his growth. He smiled a little sadly as he took a sip. "I didn't sleep at all."

"I don't mind waiting," Chrono said, congenially returning the doctor's little smile. "She, however," he paused for another sip of coffee, "She would insist on being out of here now, if she weren't out cold....I'm almost grateful for it."

"Oh, no," Chrono waved a dismissive hand, chuckling a little, the kind of timid laugh people give when they're trying to seem happy but they're really not feeling it. "I completely understand. Patience is a virtue that far too many people don't have. Rosette's got it, just not for the little things, but I can't really blame her there, sometimes."

The nun was still very unconscious. So she wasn't doing much at all for the moment.
