Luke was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, trying to sleep.

Facing the day seemed like a lot of effort.

Rory got there bright and early, and poked her head into Luke's room.

Her face immediately crumpled. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

Luke's lower lip started trembling. "Me too," he whispered back.

Luke opened his eyes--or tried to, they were both pretty swollen--and looked at her.

He looked very, very lost. "Did you see him?"

Isabel is in a pretty good mood after finding a voicemail (http://izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com/393.html?thread=2078089) on her phone when she woke this morning. So much so, she decided to walk into town for a decadent coffee and a muffin for breakfast. On a whim, she ordered an extra large hot chocolate with both marshmallows and whipped cream and headed over to the clinic.

With her hands full of cups, she couldn't knock, so instead Isabel tapped lightly on the doorframe with her foot as she stuck her head in the room. "Up for visitors?"

Luke, not to put too fine a point on it, looked terrible. His face was bruised and swollen and most of his right arm was wrapped in white gauze.

And it was very obvious that the hand was gone.

"Hi," he said, giving Isabel a small smile. "Come on in."

That good mood? Gone. "Christ Luke! What happened?" she asked as she put everything down on an empty chair and rushed over to him.

"Lightsaber accident," Luke said quietly. "Turns out they're pretty sharp."

Of course, the odds of him cutting off his own hand were pretty astronomical, but Luke hadn't exactly put a huge amount of thought into a cover story.

Isabel crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "I see. And then you punched yourself in face. Because those are some pretty serious bruises you have there."

Sometime after Prophecy class, Bridge heads over to the clinic.

"Um. Hi." He says tentatively, peering in to Luke's room.

Luke cracked an eye open.

He looked like he'd spent the last night being hit over the head with a shovel, then dropped off of a cliff.

And that wasn't counting the right arm that was wrapped in gauze and clearly missing a hand.

"Hi."

"I'm... probably one of the last people you'd want to see right now, I know that." Bridge says quietly, stepping in to the room and trying not to wince at Luke's appearance.

"Well it's not as if we hang out or even talk a lot," Bridge says. "I mean, aside from, well, the one time which... didn't go so well." He mumbles. "But I- I thought I should come by and visit anyway."

Aeryn's seeming pretty neutral when she gets there, but really she's more than a little freaked out and just hiding it really really well. She kind of pokes her head in, just to see if Luke's still there.

Luke looked like hell, really.

His face was covered in cuts and bruises and his right arm was wrapped in gauze.

And his right hand was very much not there.

He opened his eyes. "Hello," he said quietly.

Aeryn stops any internal freakout right then and there, taking the sight in as she walks over. "What happened?" she asks, because she thinks 'are you all right?' is a stupid question to start off with.
