Marie was awake and very, very restless. She'd finished all of the books Willow sent her and was staring at the wall, wondering when they were going to let her leave.

Christian walked into Marie's room, pulling on a pair of gloves. "How are you feeling today?" he asked.

"Good enough to leave," Marie replied.

"I'll be the judge of that," Christian said, sitting down on the edge of the bed to carefully take her pulse and check her heartbeat.

Marie pouted. "I'm bored here and I would sleep much better in my own bed."

"Any dizziness or blurred vision?" Christian asked. "How's your head feeling?"

"No dizziness, no blurred vision, my head feels fine and the rest of me is barely even sore. I'm still a little tired, but Dr. Wilson told me I'd need to take it easy and I can totally do that in my own room better. Besides, it's not like my roomate or my boyfriend is going to let me over do it."

Yes, she was totally giving him puppy dog eyes.

Christian made a few notes on her chart. "All right, you can go back to your room, but take it easy for a few days, and come right back here if you start feeling dizzy or nauseous, all right?"

"Thank you," Marie said, smiling. "Is there a phone I can use to call my friend to see if he can pick me up?"

Nodding toward the phone on the nightstand, Christian said, "You can get an outside line on that one, just dial 9 to get out."

Marie picked up the phone and dialed. "Hey, it's Marie... Yeah, they're letting me go home. Can you come pick me up?... Sure I can be ready in five, I just need to throw everything in my bag."

She hung up and smiled at the doctor. "My friend will be here in a few minutes. Thank you for everything."

"You're welcome," Christian said. "Just remember to take it easy and stay out of lightning storms."

"I will," Marie promised, deciding not to enlighten Dr. Troy about how exactly she'd been injured.

Instead, she gathered her belongings so she'd be ready to go when Bel arrived.

"I feel pretty good, all things considered," Marie said, picking up her bag and her bear. "But I figured Jamie and Willow would yell at me if I walked back to campus. Besides, I'd like to make my class and if I walk, I'll be too tired. So thank you."

Marie made a face and told Bel what she had to do for the recital. "Now do you understand?"
