FTEC - Monday Evening [10/23]

Wilson had tacked a note to his office door saying that he'd have office hours on Tuesday, then spent another quiet day resting and getting the apartment in order while Phale was up at the school holding class. Sharing a small snack with his lover, the young doctor kissed the angel goodbye on the promise of dinner, dinner later and had packed up and headed down to the clinic.

With a brief stop at The Perk for a Maple Latte. Yum!

Whistling softly he came into the clinic and set down his stuff, checking in briefly on Marie and Zuko, careful not to disturb them, Wilson read through their charts, checking on the notes made by the other doctors, then he headed back up to the front desk.

Coffee was started and soon the little radio was playing some classic Glenn Miller. Wilson had his laptop open and was working on lessons for the rest of the week as well as starting to pull together an idea for a class offering in the Spring. Parents Weekend had totally given him this idea.

[ooc: Here for the evening, please come see your favorite sick people, snitch coffee or otherwise bleed if need be! OCDs on the way Are up!]</small

Of course there would be dinner! Aziraphale had handwavily picked up Italian tonight -- portabello and cheese tortellini, a green salad, and fresh Italian bread with garlic and herbs. The scent wafted across the room as Aziraphale walked in the door.

"Good evening, love! I hope your patients are doing well."

"Perhaps I'll step in before I leave and say hello, take them some tea," he offered, thinking it might take a bit of the load off Wilson if he took over one of the frequent bed checks he figured the young doctor must be making.

Returning the cheek kiss, Aziraphale set about helping unpack their dinner, and then produced a bottle of sparkling cider.

"I'd have brought wine, but I thought you'd probably not be willing to drink it on duty, so we have cider instead."

"Class was just fine, although it would appear that I have a few students whose weekend wasn't as enjoyable as one would hope. Certainly not, however, on the scale of the weekend your patients experienced," he added, with a wry smile.

Cocking his head at the papers on the desk, Aziraphale asked, "What are working on?"

"Yes, it does seem that way. Some psychological ones as well as physical ones, I think."

Aziraphale raised an eyebrow at the stack of papers, and pondered them quietly for a few moments while they ate. Finally, he looked over at Wilson and said, "Are you certain you aren't taking too much on, love? With the clinic and teaching classes?"

Not that it wasn't a clever ruse, the sudden need to check on his patients and a desire for a cup of coffee that had to be just exactly the way the Perk made it, but Aziraphale knew how the young doctor's mind worked. And any time Wilson went to those lengths to dodge a question, it meant he knew the question was coming, and didn't want to deal with it.

Which meant, of course, that the angel did.

Coming back in the door, Aziraphale smiled warmly, setting down the requested maple latte and then taking a seat, his own cup of spiced tea in his hand.

"So then, love...clinic work twice a week plus extra shifts, two classes a week, and office hours twice a week. As well as research papers, and don't think I haven't seen the letters coming in with requests for speaking engagements. Are you certain you're not taking on too much?"

"One class would be...a bit less work. It would give you more time for your research as well."

Aziraphale wasn't about to suggest he cut back on the clinic. Medicine was Wilson's calling, and he needed to practice it, not just write about it. Despite how tired he'd come home on Saturday, and the way the angel could see that old urge to shoulder all the world's pain creeping back in, Wilson was plainly happier now that he was back in the clinic. And Aziraphale was not about to try and take away anything that made his lover happy.

"Just...so long as you aren't working yourself into illness," he said softly, with a warm smile that said he wasn't about to nag on the topic. "I'd like to help with some of the cooking for Sunday, love, if you'll let me."

Lana came in quietly. "Hi, Dr. Wilson. I was wondering if I could check on Marie."

"Sure, I'd be glad to," Lana said with a smile, taking the food. "Thank you."

"I will." Lana smiled at him as she started towards Marie's room.

Marie was awake for a change. And starting to feel restless.

"I'm awake," Marie responded, wondering who was knocking.

Marie paused before answering the question. "I think I feel okay," she said. "I'm not as sore or confused as I was yesterday. I'm still pretty tired though."

"Sure, that's fine," Marie said, happy to see him taking precautions. "You were the one that took care of me Saturday, weren't you?" she asked.

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, actually," Marie realized. "I think I am."

[ooc: hmmm, I'll let her stay one more night and get released during Christian's shift tomorrow.]

"I say that sounds heavenly," Marie said, her stomach rumbling in agreement.

Marie waited anxiously for his return.

Lana knocked on the edge of the door, carrying Wilson and Phale's leftover Italian food. "Marie?"

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Lana!" Marie smiled. "And you brought food. You might be my new best friend. Just don't tell Willow I said that."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry," Lana said with a smile. "I know it's the hunger speaking."

She started to set the food out on the tray table where Marie could reach it. "How are you feeling?" she asked. "I'm sorry I didn't stop by sooner, just... Parents Weekend, you know."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm feeling a lot better than I was two days ago," Marie said. "And don't worry about it. I take it you had a visitor?"

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Unfortunately, yes," Lana said. "But I'm more concerned about you. You're feeling better, but is there anything you need? I'm free all morning tomorrow, I could pick you up things if you wanted."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Willow brought me a care package yesterday," Marie said. "So I think I have everything I need. I'm hoping they'll let me go home tomorrow. Tell me about your weekend?"

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Lana sighed. "My supposedly former guardian showed up, insulted Jim, made some veiled threats, and tried to almost coerce me into dumping Jim and moving back home. Not the best of weekends."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Marie frowned. "Well, I'm glad it didn't work."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Lana rubbed a hand over her face. "I'm not moving back there. Which means I may not have anything resembling a home anymore, since Lex's mansion was all I had left there.

She sighed. "So, I'm working on accepting that."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure that once my parents find out I'm a mutant, I won't have a home either," Marie shared.

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Lana smiled ruefully at her. "Well you'll always be welcome at any home I have. Maybe I should start my own."

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Same goes for you," Marie promised. "I did propose that StuCo plan some holiday celebrations for kids who don't have anywhere to go," she said.

Re: Exam Room 1 - Marie d'Ancanto

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"That would be nice," Lana said. "Though Lex is pushing pretty hard for me at least to come back for a visit soon. I'm trying to decide what to do. He's always been really good to me and I hate to lose that, but at the same time I won't let him dictate my life."
