Susan had the clinic open around noon, and was doing a crossword puzzle, and hoping that the present she got for Lorelai's baby shower was appopriate. It just seemed very *her*, somehow.

Peter, wearing the Swedish flag and carrying a basket, came into the clinic looking for Susan.

"Peter!" Susan blinked, then laughed. "But they tied!"

"Yes, so neither of us won!" Peter replied, laughing as well.

"A compromise, then. I would have thought neither of you would pay the forfeit, but I suppose this is more amusing." Susan's lips quirked, then she tilted her head. "What's in the blanket?"

"This is definitely more amusing," Peter agreed. "Besides Sweden's playing Germany next so I'll support them whole-heartedly."

He uncovered the basket and presented it to Susan with a bow. "Happy Midsummer, Su." There was ivy trailing off the basket, inside it were flowers of several sorts along with strawberries, blueberries, and cherries, along with some marzipan peaches and apples. "Ohhh, Peter." Susan's face lit up with delight. "Midsummer baseket! I haven't seen one of this in -- well. You know how long." She stroked the ivy, and popped a blueberry in her mouth, smiling at him with shining eyes. "This was so thoughtful of you. And what's this, down at the bottom?" She pulled out the package, and raised her eyebrows.

Peter smiled happily at her delight. "I missed the idea of making then so it seemed appropriate. I'm so glad you like it." He ducked his head. "I saw it in DC and thought you'd like it."

Susan cocked her head at him, then opened the package carefully, then ooooo'ing as the scarf unfolded. "It's lovely! Thank you so much!" Impulsively she leaned forward and hugged him, then stepped back, wrapping it around her neck. "Is it me, then?"

Peter hugged her back with a grin. "You're very welcome. And it only enhances your natural beauty. Indeed, it ought to thank you for making it more lovely." He fell back into Narnian Court language without thinking.

Susan laughed, then popped a cherry in her mouth. "If Josh could hear you, he'd hire you on the spot for his diplomatic jobs. Lord knows he needs someone." She shook her head. "Are you taking a basket to Willow, maybe?"

"I think I have a diplomatic job of mine own already," Peter replied with a wink. "But I'll keep that in mind. And yes, I certainly am. I found her something in Washington as well which I hope is appropriate. And that she likes it." Peter nervously ran his hand through his hair.

"Peter," Susan's voice gentled. "Relax. She'll be thrilled with any unexpected present. Any girl would, but I suspect Willow will be, more than most."

Peter grinned. "Yes, well, I've not done this before. I get to be nervous." He paused. "Thank you for your assurance though."

"You're quite welcome. I shall tease you about Willow all I want, but I shan't lie to you about her." She smiled cheerfully. "About what I've told her, but not about her."

"I think that's perfectly right and fair. As long as you know that I shall demand the same right should a certain man you mentioned come back here."

Susan's look could probably be best described deer-in-the-headlights. "Peterrr...."

Peter looked at his sister innocently.

Susan made a face. "I'm an adult now, big brother. There's only so much you can do," she said, probably rashly. "And I shall make sure not to leave you alone with him, when he comes back!"

Peter may have looked like he had been handed a lovely challenge. He smiled thoughtfully. "I had been thinking of learning more about the American theory of government. I ought to learn as much about governing as possible while I'm here."

Susan covered her face with her hands. "You wouldn't." She peeked at him, then sighed. "Of course you would." She picked up a marzipan candy, and threatened with it. "Go. Flee. Exit. And think of what I can do all summer, while Josh isn't here, and your Willow is. Hmm?"

Peter braved the candied threat to give Su a hug before bowing his way out.

"Happy Midsummer, sister dear. Don't worry too much; it wouldn't be worthy of you," he said with a wink as he exited.

After his conversation with Tyler, Cameron headed down to the clinic. He knocked on the doorframe of the office before sticking his head in. "Yo, doc."

"Hello, Cameron. Come on in." Susan smiled as he walked in. "How has your week been?"

Cameron smiled. "A whole lot better than the last time you saw me."

"I'm so glad to hear that." She gestured to the couch. "What in particular made this a better week?"

Cameron plopped down on the couch and scratched his head as he considered it. "A couple of things really. I managed to have a not so awkward conversation with Aeryn. I realised that I do still have friends and didn't screw up as badly as I thought I did, even if I did screw up on some levels. I can kiss Molly now without going into a guilt complex and I know I'm working on stuff so yeah..."

"A good week. Progress being made." She tilted her head. "Did you write down your memories, as we talked about?"

"Sort of," he replied as he pulled a piece of paper (http://cameronmitchell.livejournal.com/73695.html) out of his pocket and got up to hand it to her. "I didn't have any relevant dreams so I just wrote down the gist of it."

Susan read them, frowning. "As an exercise in psychological torture, it's almost textbook. Isolation, guilt, horrors that can't be prevented..." Her lips thinned, then firmed. "But I see that you're already poking holes in the scenarios they constructed. I'm very pleased to see that."

"Aeryn argued that their scenario was lacking weetiny bunnies," Cameron said with a rueful smile. "I think talking to my father helped most. They just took what was going on in my head and blew it out of proportion."

"I'm *very* glad to hear that." Susan re-folded the note, and handed it back to him. "Also, the sheer number of incidents breaks the plausibility, although I know there was no way you could tell that at the time." She sat back, taking a few notes. "Are the memories still fading away, as they were before?"

"They did spread it out over more than a decade," Cameron said as he folded up the paper. "The things they used as fillers are mostly gone. It's pretty much like you know you had a dream and any time you think you're going to remember, it just disappears again. These," he said as he held up the piece of paper, "they're hard to forget."

"I can see why." Susan folded her hands, studying him. "But you're reconnecting with your old life, too. I'm sure that's helping. You mentioned Molly? That you've decided to pursue a relationship with her?"

Cameron blushed and tucked the paper away again. "Yeah. We're taking it slowly. Babysteps slowly. Snail pace slow." He felt strongly about the slow part.

Susan pressed her fingers to her mouth, stifling a chuckle. "Ah. And slow is good. And different from your relationships with Vala and Jaye, specifically, how?"

"I dived right in with Vala. Eyes closed, head first," he said sadly. "Jaye was a fling first. It wasn't supposed to be serious. When we tried to make it more, it just fell apart."

"And you're already friends with Molly. Good friends. So a tiny step forward-- that assures that you're both ready for it." Susan smiled. "I'm glad. You mentioned Aeryn, as well. How is that going?"

"It's different now," he said with a small shrug. "I miss that friendship and I still trust her, so it's weird talking to her and knowing she doesn't anymore. I guess things changed a while ago, I just didn't want to notice it. I'd like to rebuild things and if we can talk again like we did this weekend, that'd be great."

"I'm glad. As you said, slow." Susan tapped her pen on the arm of her chair. "Have you been having the nightmare lately? Or is it still only occasional?"

"A lot less," Cameron replied. "Mostly when I'm stressed out, but I haven't had it in a while now. There was an exhibition on Antartica when we were in DC. It's actually pretty when you're not diving in nose first."

"Stick with the exercise regimen, if that works for you. Did you ever figure out if the meditation tape had any effect for you? I shan't push it, if it's not helping."

Cameron looked sheepish. "It's great for insomania," he confessed.

Susan laughed a little. "Good! I'm pleased to hear it. Was there anything else bothering you that you wished to discuss?"

"No, I think I'm good," Cameron said with a smile. This had ben easier than he expected.

"Good. I'll see you next week, then. You know how to contact me if you need to talk sooner."
