FTEC, Wednesday day

Tommy did a quick check on all the patients - that Tyler kid still wasn't looking good, but comparatively speaking he was starting to look better - and then settled down at his desk to do the very important job of reading the sports section.

[ooc: OCD threads are up. I'll be at work most of the day so Tommy might be on slowplay. Comment notification is turned off for all you visiting types ;) . If you need Tommy, ping him in his thread. Need me, ping in the OOC thread. Thanks!]

Seras came forward, examining the chair the way the neighborhood guys might examine a friend's new car.

"Brilliant model. Absolutely top of the line."

She bent down and gave the right wheel a squeeze.

"Just needs some racing stripes. Maybe stick some baseball cards in the wheel spokes."

"Pippi and Nadia have some plan for us to be football hoolies. I think baseball cards are contrary to that."

With clogs or body paint.

Hm... Swedes in body paint?

Walter looked a bit vacant for a moment. Maybe it was the drugs.

Seras laughed at the idea of football hoolies in wheelchairs.

Then, she noticed Walter's vacant expression.

"You need tea," she said, "STAT."

Walter came back from his nude, body painted, Swedish footballer reverie to nod at the offer of tea.

"You sound as though you could use some, too."

Seras nodded.

"Got caught in the rain, yesterday and I caught cold."

She poured and fixed the teas and handed Walter his cup.

"So," she said as she handed Walter his, "If you're going to be a football hoolie, there's one thing I need to know....Manchester or Arsenal?"

She looked up at him with narrowed eyes.

"Actually, I think I'm being forced to choose Argentina or Sweden, in which case, I have to choose Argentina."

As the mun kicks you for making me learn anything about something I care nothing about.

"You're a traitor to the nation," replied Seras, sticking out her tongue.

"I owe Nadia in a very big way. Rooting for her home country is barely a start," Walter said, sobering.

"Oh, Walter...."

Seras sighed and shook her head.

"Drink your tea, mate," she said, pressing the cup into his hands.

"I thought you said you realised that you weren't responsible for what he did."

Walter had a sip and shook his head. "That doesn't matter. My first girlfriend and now she flinches when she sees me."

"It does matter!" said Seras.

She'd seated herself cross-legged on the floor by his chair, and now she stared up at him, her expression fierce.

"It matters because so long as you know you're not to blame, you've a chance at fixing things with Nadia."

She paused and then went on more gently, "Not even a week's gone by, Walter. It must be hard, but give it some time."

"No, what matters is whether she knows I'm not the one who did those things."

Seras could talk all she wanted, but she hadn't been there when Nadia woke in the morning and saw him. And she hadn't been there when the vampire had hit Nadia exactly where it would hurt the most.

Stubborn wanker...

"And, like I said, it's been less then a week. I've no idea what happened to her, Walter. She probably needs more time to sort herself out."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"This all started because I said I'd paint the Argentine flag on my chest!"

That was about enough of that. "You're just angry I didn't pick Arsenal or Manchester. Which one is yours?"

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Calm yourself, Dornez, or I'll call in the orderlies and have them tie you down to your chair," said Seras primly, turning up her nose, "And, I like Manchester."

Seras reached into her bag and rummaged, pulling out a tin of English Shortbread.

"I brought this for you," she said, "But, I'll only leave it if you promise to actually eat it and not just sit there brooding at it."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll have you know that I haven't been brooding. I've been reading." Walter held up the book with the title facing away from Seras.

"One would never brood at a good tin of shortbread."

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"One would certainly hope not," replied Seras in her best Lady Chatterly-type voice.

She popped open the tin and passed it over.

"What're you reading, then?"

Walter laughed and turned it around to show her the cover. "Blair brought me this book about moose mating calls. He was only sorry school was out so he couldn't bring me my homework."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh! I ment Blair today. He came into All and Sundries to buy supplies for his slumber party."

She laughed.

"He was quite nice, actually, and invited me to come. It turns out that he lives in the room right next to Gwynn and I."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Blair's a good guy. A bit on the bouncy side, but not in a bad way. Although there was this one day he pretended to be working for The Man. We brought him and Nadia down here because we thought they'd been gremlin bit."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Seras' brow furrowed.

"Gremlin bit?"

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"There are these little things. Gremlins. Their bites are hallucinogenic, I hear. They make you think you're someone, or something else."

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh. Charming."

Seras wrinkled her nose.

"Well, at any rate, if you get bored of learning how to romance moose, I've brought you these," she said, pulling two books out of her bag: "The Adventure of the Dancing Men" and "Death on the Nile".

"I didn't know what you'd like, but I figured that at least these would feel sort of...homey."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Walter took the books and read the back covers. "Thank you. I know you can never tell when you'll need a friendly moose, but there's only so much a person can read."

Re: Exam 4 - Walter Dornez

[identity profile] union-jane.livejournal.com 2006-05-18 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Seras grinned and stretched out her legs in front of herself.

"Just think," she said, "You'll be the best prepared butler in the world. Say your master is attacked by a rampaging moose? You'll be able to distract it. How many butlers can say that?"
