Susan opened up the clinic late, with only one appointment set up. To make up for it, she re-organized the clinic charts. Mostly because she was bored.

Alanna waved to Susan and settled down in her usual chair.

Janet showed up for her appointment, and looked around for Dr. Pevensie.

"Hello, Janet. Is your friend Sam going to meet us here?" Susan asked.

"Sam should be in soon," said Janet. "I let her know when the appointment was."

Sam knocked on the door a bit hesitantly. God, she hated therapy, but she hated being on the outs with Janet even more.

"Hello, Sam?" Susan gestured to the couch and chairs. "Please, have a seat." Taking her notepad from her desk, she said, "I want to reassure you that whatever is said in this office is completely confidential, first. I've already discussed this with Janet, but I will only be reporting incidents of child abuse, threats of violence to self or others, or concrete evidence of crimes. If neither of you mind, I'll be taking shorthand notes which will never leave the office." She took a deep breath. "Right. Would either of you mind explaining why you're both here at once?"

"We had a fight. A bad one." Sam glanced over at Janet as she took a seat in one of the chairs and folded her hands in her lap.

"And you've been friends for a while," Susan said slowly. "Why do you need a counselor for help with this, instead of simply working it out between you, or talking to friends?"

Sam shifted in her seat. "Some of the things said...I'm not sure they're forgivable. And there are other issues there that I think we need a mediator for."

"We both lost our tempers." Janet sighed and glanced over at Sam. "On an unprecedented scale."

"All right. Why don't you tell me a little about your friendship first, and then explain the fight?"

Sam shot Janet another look, then promptly hedged. "We've been friends for about seven years. Janet's been my best friend for most of that time. She's always there for me except for that year when she wasn't."

"We've known each other practically forever," said Janet. She and Sam hadn't throught through what they should say about their friendship, or how to hide the classified parts. "There's no one I'm closer to than Sam. But we lost touch for a a couple of years after I, um--" Died. "--moved away. Before we both came here for school."

Susan made a few notes, looking from one young woman to the other, noting their *extreme* discomfort with the situation. "Sam, do you mind if I ask-- would you mind telling me if you have been in therapy before? I didn't give you the standard questionaire, and that's one of the things I usually ask. Both of you seem unhappy to be here. Even though you want my assistance. I'm wondering what your expectations are, you see."

"And on another note, how long were you two apart last year, after Janet 'moved away'?" There was something there, but Susan had no idea what.

"Between a year and two years." Janet glanced over at Sam. "You'd know the exact timing better. I lost track. As to expectations-- We had a fight. I wouldn't say that anything said was--" Her voice grew strained. "--unforgivable." Janet straightened in her chair. "But we have differences of opinion. Just 'talking to friends' isn't enough, and besides, I'm not going to ask mutual friends to get involved in what's essentially a private matter between Sam and myself."




OOC: Heroes 1 aired 2/13/04, which I'm taking as the date of death. Then game started in mid-September 2005, and Janet had been cloned for about six months before that. So I'd say that Sam and Janet were separated for a little more than a year and a half.

"Sam, would you say that's an accurate representation?" Susan asked.

"Allright, then. For the sake of simplicity, I'd like one person to give her side of the fight -- without interruptions from the other-- and then the other person can give hers. After that, we'll talk about where you have differences of opinion. No interpretation, no explanation before that. Is that acceptable to you both?"

Janet frowned. "A while ago, some of us were attacked by one of the local vampires. I was injured during the attack, and I didn't tell anyone about it." She glanced guiltily at Sam. "And, yes, I should have, but I knew people would worry. When Sam found out about the attack a week later, she and I started yelling at each other. The fight ended up being less about Darla's attack and more about other things instead."

Well. That was probably less informative than Dr. Pevensie was looking for.

"Other things? Issues about...?" Susan prodded gently, checking Sam's reaction this, before looking back to Janet.

Sam, who had been very silent up to this point because her mun forget to check back on this post, omg, answered a few questions at once.

"Yes, I have been to therapy before," she said, shifting in her seat again, "but it was never really my choice. And we were...apart, for about a year and a half, more or less."

She looked down at her linked fingers. "Before Janet...moved, there was an incident. She was badly hurt." She swallowed. "This brought a lot of that worry back. I just want her to be safe and stay alive."

"So this fight had as much to do with your worry about what had happened before, as it did with the actual circumstances of Janet's injury this time," Susan commented. "Did either of you talk about that previous incident *before* the attack two weeks ago, or the fight afterwards?"

Sam glanced at Janet. "No, not really. I don't like to bring it up."

"Neither do I. I try not to think about it," said Janet. She looked over at Sam again. "In fact, when we discovered we were both attending the same school, we didn't comment on either the incident or the separation."

OOC: No, seriously. RC had more of a reaction to Janet being alive again than old!Sam did.

Sam blushed. "I didn't know how to bring it up. 'Hi, you're looking much less dead injured than the last time I saw you' seemed a little callous."

"I'd kind of been hoping for a little more than a group invitation to the firing range," said Janet. "You called me 'Jan.' And then we had that month where I couldn't say anything right which, to give you credit, is when old!Sam was playing." She sighed. "Which I know you already apologized for, and I said it was fine, but I guess I'm still a little annoyed about it."

"So, this is probably a good time to get into Sam's reactions to you being hurt--" And how serious was that? They were both acting as if Janet had been paralyzed, or in a coma. But undoubtedly that would come out as they talked about it. "--and Janet's to what happened at the time. I could speculate for both of you, but that wouldn't be nearly as helpful, would it." Susan looked at Sam. "Your turn, then. What about the attack on Janet reminded you of her old accident? Anything that comes to mind."

"I wasn't there," Sam replied immediately. "I heard about it secondhand after the fact; I didn't see how bad it was. And because I wasn't there, there was nothing I could have done to help prevent it."
