Susan hoped Ivanova was feeling better after a week to recover.

Ivanova was looking worse off than last week. The cane, sling, and heavily bandaged leg, arm, and ribs may have something to do with this. She limps into the office, leaning heavily on her cane, and taps at the door. "Dr. Pevensie?"

"Good lord, Ivanova," Susan blurted. "Sit!"

Ivanova sat.

"~~Yes, my Queen.~~ Don't worry," she muttered, scowling. "It's the same old injuries. I was ambushed by a doctor and her maniacal lackey."

"And they're just taping you and splinting you now?" Susan asked, aghast. "How on earth were you managing before this?"

Ivanova began to shrug, but stopped. "According to Lyta, pig-headed stupidity. I would have healed fine on my own, without meddling from the well-meaning."

Susan doesn't face-palm, but if she did, she would be. "Ivanova, have you been prescribed pain medication? Are you taking it? We certainly don't have to go forward with today's session if you're not feeling well...."

"What is with everyone's obsession with drugging me?" Ivanova blurted out. "Yes, I've been told to take pain medication. No, I am not taking it. I do not need to take it. I don't need anything. I want to go back to my normal activities. I don't like being on forced bedrest."

Susan sighed and folded her hands under her chin. "Are you in pain now, Ivanova? That's what I want to know."

"No," Ivanova replied forcefully. She lies like a rug.

Susan gives her a look. "Did the doctor mention that pain is a warning? And you're not *supposed* to ignore it? That it's foolish to stress your body into more damage?"

"No. She didn't. I knew that already." Ivanova sighed. "Doctors. They know everything. Look, Dr. Pevensie, I know it looks bad and I seem stupid and foolish for refusing help and pain meds. I just hate feeling . . . ineffectual. I'm the kind of person to thrive on chaos. I can't . . . do nothing, sit still."

"A more active way of recovering, then?" Susan shook her head, then narrowed her eyes. "I supposed if you're, talking to me, you're at least not damaging yourself doing something more physical. Very well, then." She shook her head at Ivanova's injuries again. "And how did this change in treatment come about? Which doctor did you see?"

"She isn't a doctor at the moment, but I have the feeling she was at some point," Ivanova replied. "Janet Fraiser? Do you know her? Anyway, I seem to have . . . fallen asleep Friday morning . . ." Ivanova frowned. "I can't really remember why. And I must have slept all weekend, because apparently I woke up on Tuesday. Lyta had gotten Janet to come over." She paused, but she had promised to say something. "As long as I'm at the clinic . . . Janet wanted me to be looked at more thoroughly."

Janet Fraiser was the young woman of so much aplomb that Susan had met over the Snow Monster weekend. She frowned. "And that sounds very serious, a four-day fugue state-- you mean only Janet has seen you so far?" she asked, alarmed.

". . . yes."

Great, Ivanova. You sound so very mature, adult, and responsible at the moment. She did find it odd about the four-day nap, but nothing really clicked. Lyta had made sure of that with her mental block. The moment she thought about it, the thought slipped away.

"Ivanova, you should be here in the clinic! With someone to observe you." Susan calmed a little. "This isn't a joking matter. Or one that I'm inclined to let pass. You could slip into a coma, for heaven's sake."

Mmm, comas. Her favourite things. The last one ended with her waking up to find Marcus dead beside her.

"This is why I'm not too fond of doctors," Ivanova muttered. "There hasn't been anyone around for me to be observed by, lately," she replied, at a normal volume. "Kinda convenient that I was asleep for the period that the clinic was closed." Even that didn't make her suspicious. And this lack of suspicion would make anyone who knew her suspicious.

[[She's stay put if it's a direct order, nothing less. Appeal to the military in her.]]

"Convenient?" Susan stared at Ivanova, then shook her head, her lips firming into a line. "You are staying here tonight, Ivanova. So I can be sure that you're not suffering from some kind of brain damage. I am hooking you up to the EKG and monitoring you. And do not even *think* of telling me you're fine. Good God. This is why the Russians won their war and lost their country!"

Ivanova stiffened almost automatically at the tone of command. Her injured arm twitched to salute. "Yes, ma'am," she replied automatically, then winced. "Let me call my roommate so she doesn't panic. And then you can hook me up to whatever you want." As long as it isn't alien technology that transfers life energy from one person to another. That didn't work out so well the last time. "But no meds."

"I wouldn't dare, not with you staying unconscious for four days for unknown reasons," Susan said, shaking her head, her eyes grim. "And very well, call Lyta, she can bring you any pajamas or accessories you may need. What classes do you have tomorrow?"

"None," Ivanova replied. "I work at Wonka's Thursdays through Sundays. My schedule worked out very well like that." She suddenly thought of something and groaned. "Tonks is going to kill me. If I don't call and tell her, she's going to kill me for making her worry when I don't show up. If I call, she's going to kill me for making her worry anyways."

"Best to make her call and have her worry about the right thing," Susan said briskly. "I'll do it, if you're not up to dealing with your employer?"

Ivanova almost blushed. "Tonks isn't my employer," she murmured. "We, um, work together." If you'd call sucking face 'work'.

"Ah," Susan said, blinking. Yes, let's just add that to the list of things to be discussed. "Very well. Why don't you call Tonks and Lyta, and I'll make up Exam Room #2 for you?"

Ivanova nodded. Her link was on the wrong hand, but at least she had remembered to grab it this morning. She wouldn't mind Dr. Pevensie being in the room for her call to Lyta, but calling 'Dora . . .

She raised her hand to display the link. "If you don't mind, I'll just sit here for a moment. I can call from this."

"Ah." More new technology, though not exactly standard. "I'll go now. Join me when you're ready, Ivanova. All right?" Susan smiled as she stood. "Hopefully this isn't anything serious, now. But I am not about to take chances."

[and I'm out, I think? :> ]

"Thank you, Dr. Pevensie," Ivanova said reluctantly. She never liked to admit when she was wrong. Or even wrong-ish. As soon as she had left the room, Ivanova quickly made her calls before deactivating the link and limping after her. It was going to be a long night. Medlabs. Ugh.

[[Gu dearbh. I sleep now. Zzzz . . .]]

Hopefully, Marty would be able to make his appointment this week, after being sick last week.

Alanna came in, Faithful riding along in her bag. She looked a bit more "there" than she has in the past few days.

Susan smiled at her as she came in. "Hello, Alanna. How are you?"

"Pretty good, and yourself, ma'am?" Alanna had given up on trying to hide her cast.

"I'm fine, but you seem to have been injured again since the last time I saw you," Susan said with concern. "What happened?"

"I fell ma'am." If Susan hadn't been listening to the radio, Alanna wasn't about to point out just how she fell. "Um, have the new doctors arrived yet?"

"During the study group?" Susan's eyebrows rose, and she sighed, then gestured to a chair. "And yes, Dr. Lambert arrived last night. I don't think she's in today, but I could page her, if we need her. Do you want me to do so?"

"Well, you know how studying can be hazardous to ones health, ma'am." Alanna settled down in the chair. "Dr. Lambert." Alanna commited the name to memory. "And I'm fine, I've just been using my Gift on the break and it took a bit more out of me then I thought it would."

"So I'm given to understand," Susan said, widening her eyes at Alanna to let her know she wasn't fooled at all. She frowned. "Really? Is there anything I can do to help you recover? Or do you just need to rest?"

Alanna shook her head. "No ma'am. I just didn't realize that mixing magic and modern medicine might be rather potent for me. However, I think I have shortened the amount of time I'll have to stay in this cast by a good two weeks."

"That's wonderful," Susan said, surprised, then: "Potent?" rather dubiously.

Alanna rolled her eyes. "Using my Gift makes me tired, physically and emotionally. Ma'am. Having a broken wrist makes me tired. Adding pain killers to the mix turns me into the walking dead, no offense to Angel or those lovely Zombies we had a while ago."

Susan laughed. "Oh, dear. Not a good experiment to repeat, then. Should you even be here? Are you certain you don't want to rest in your room?"

Alanna snorted. "I'm the clinic's good luck charm, ma'am. No one ever comes in while I'm here. I'm hoping to meet the new doctors, really."

Susan shook her head. "Well, I hope we can keep up your record, then. I'm not expecting the other new doctors yet, but I certainly hope they arrive soon."

Alanna gave Susan a sharp salute. "Yes, m'lady!"
