Clinic [2/8]

Susan opened the clinic, and got out her files for the patients she was expecting-- and again, hoped that new doctors would be reporting in soon.

"You assume correctly." She offered her hand with a smile. "Dr. Natalie Lambert."

"Well, I don't know about replacing Dr. House... But a new doctor, yes." Natalie looked around. "Busy day?"

Natalie's stomach roiled at the thought of the lollipop. She put up her hand. "No thank you," she replied. She then leaned her weight against the counter, using her elbow. "I, ah, was actually an ME. I had a regular patient or two, though, kept up with my studies so that I can treat patients with a pulse." Or without, as the case may be...

"A bit, yes," Natalie agreed. She furrowed her brow. The displacement thing was going to get a little strange. "It's 2006 for me. Are you... not from around here?" Maybe she was taking it for granted that Dr. Pevensie was even human.

"Oh, I adapt to change fairly quickly," Nat said with a little laugh. She looked up as a fairly pale man entered.

Clad in jeans, an untucked uniform shirt that read "Al", he approached her, carrying a clipboard. Behind him, another man entered, pushing a handtruck with several wooden crates. "Which one of yous is Dr. Natalie Lambert?"

Natalie cleared her throat. "I am?"

"Good. We gots a few packages for yas." He gestured to the crates. They were prominently labelled "FRAGILE." "You sign here and tell my partner where to park 'em."

As she signed her name, Nat turned to Dr. Pevensie. "Is there a place I can store these until I know where to unpack them?"

[Sorry for the multi-play here, but I didn't recruit anyone to play a ...courier. =) ]

Natalie glanced around a corner and directed the men around to where she saw the exam rooms were. She looked back to Susan as the cart squeakily rolled past. "A few odds and ends to help in my research. It's all owned by my grant-writer, of course, but they're generous and let it travel with me."

Natalie didn't bat an eyelash. "I received a grant to research polymorphous light eruptions, sort of a sun allergy. I've made some good strides, but there's still a lot to be done."

She shoved her hands into the pockets of her coat. "As for the other doctors..." She shrugged. "I was told they were hiring more than just me. Other than that, I haven't heard anything."

"Not so much, actually," Nat answered with a laugh. "I did learn a thing or two about life here from the bartender at Caritas. From what he told me, I can only imagine what the school is like."

"It sounds like anything normal is abnormal around here."

She wouldn't think about vampires ravaging the town. She wouldn't show too much interest...though she did make a mental note to start carefully poking around.

[OOC: Okay. Hate to, but I need to get some sleep. Ugh. EST.]

Natalie couldn't help but return it. "Well, I'm here for now. I'll just have to see how it works out." She glanced at her watch. "I'd better go keep an eye on Laurel and Hardy back there. See you around?"
