It's noon before he makes it to the clinic.

His last day.

He's sitting at the desk, with a cup of coffee and Johnny Cash on the radio. He'd brought Cash in from town, and the pup in on the floor chewing on a rawhide bone.

Dr is in. Come say goodbye. He's on slowtime unil this evening

She nods, "the rumors, the official announcement from the principal."

She reaches in her purse for the bag of lollies she got for him, "it's not much, but I figured at least I knew you'd like them. So how come you're leaving?"

He accepts the bag with a smile. "Thank you."

He fishes out a red one.

"I have a lot going on," he tapped his temple. "I'm still struggling with my," his voice trailed off for a moment, "with my Vicodin addiction. I'm restless and if I stay, I'm no sure I won't do something stupid."

"I had no idea, I'm sorry. I understand what you mean about worrying about doing stupid though, I've felt like that quite a bit myself. I'm really sorry you're going though, I guess this means I'm gonna have to find another couch to sleep on tonight then?" she asked forcing a smile.

"No. You're welcome to it. I'm not skipping town right away. Next week, probably. Until then, the couch is yours."

There was a darkness in his eyes. Sadness. Regret. Pain.

She nods, "I might go try to find somewhere with a bed, I don't like to impose on you and Geoff, I guess if I can't find someone else to stay I'll be back at Geoff's though."

She looks up at him, sad "If there's anything I can do Doctor House, it'll be okay you know." she says softly hoping to reassure him a little.

"I know." He smiled. "Thank you Paige. For everything." He leaned forward a little. "Will you look out for Geoff, after I go?"

She shrugs, "It's nothing really, I just I could do more and of course I will, I just kinda wish I could look out of you too. Where are you going?"

"I'm going to a place called Tropolis. I think it's not too far from here." He nods. He really has no idea. He kind of forgot to ask Wilson about that. It doesn't matter. Distance won't change his mind.

"I hope you like it there better than here then and I hope you'll be happy. I'll miss you though and I'm guessing I'll not be the only one."

"Quite a few people have crawled out of the woodwork to say goodbye." House's expression confirmed that he hadn't expected that. "It's almost surreal, that today's my last day."

"You're obviously more popular than you thought,"

She considered what he said about this being his last day, "It's only your last day at the clinic though right? You'll be staying in town a while longer won't you?"

She really sorry he's leaving but she's worried about Geoff too, he'd seemed a little sad the last time she'd seen him, she was worried about he'd take HOuse leaving too.

"A couple days. I'm looking in to finding a place to stay in Tropolis. And, I don't want to leave Geoff so suddenly. He's a good guy, you know. I really like him."

House is more than a little worried about that. About how Geoff will take it, and about how he will deal with leaving Geoff.In either case, Geoff is the one big regret about the whole situation.

Of course Paige knows what I good guy Geoff is, she just tried not to think too much about it or she'd go insane.

"Yeah he's the most amazing man I've ever met," she admits, "but don't worry about him too much I'll make sure he's okay, he's tougher than he likes to make out really."

"Do you know who Eeyore is? The donkey? That's who Geoff reminds me of."

Paige laughs "Yeah I know who you mean, the depressed donkey from Winnie the Pooh,"

She thinks a moment and looks confused, "I've not read it for a while but I'm not sure I quite see it. He reminds me more of Tiger, there was this time when he'd been into space, he was very excited that night!"

"He just takes whatever comes to him." House explained. "Good or bad. He just rolls with it."

"Ah right yeah I see what you mean, I guess everything's so wierd for him here and he's having all this new experiences he just, yeah rolls with it." she smiles, "so you know he'll be fine right? I'll just make sure I always have some safety pins handy" she says hoping he gets what she means or she's just come across as a psychopath.

He didn't necessarily get the joke, but he got the point. He nodded, with an arch of his brow. "I know he'll be all right. I don't expect he'll fall apart because I'm leaving. But I still worry about him."

"yeah I still worry about him after all this time, which is why you can trust me to make sure he's gonna be okay. Won't you be able to keep in touch?"
