It's noon before he makes it to the clinic.

His last day.

He's sitting at the desk, with a cup of coffee and Johnny Cash on the radio. He'd brought Cash in from town, and the pup in on the floor chewing on a rawhide bone.

Dr is in. Come say goodbye. He's on slowtime unil this evening

He looks up, touches his pen to his forehead and smiles. "That would be me."

"I wanted to say goodbye and tell you that I'm going to miss you."

"Thank you. I'll miss you too, Pheobe." Hosue smiled gently. He was, honestly, overwhelmed by the people who came to say goodbye to him. He was deeply touched by each one of them taking the time to stop in.

"Will...will you keep in contact?"

"Yah. I want to keep in touch with some of you guys. I've put a lot of work, a lot of time, into this clinic. I'v emet a lot of really great kids. I don't want to be some guy who put in a couple hours then walked away. You guys are important to me."

Phoebe relaxed a little bit and then hugged him.

"Good, I couldn't stand that, Besides," she grinned. "There are only two doctors I trust to do right for me when I can't do it myself and they're both leaving. So, I hope you accept drop-in house calls."

"Antime." House smiled. "I'm actually thinking I might give up medicine, so a house call now and then just might be welcome. I imagine medicine is a lot like riding a bike. You never quite forget how to d it, and there's always that desire to try it again, in the back of your head."

Phoebe smiled back. "We never change parts of who we are. And in my eyes? You'll always be one of the best doctors...friends...a girl could have."

"Well, thank you." House stood and embraced her in a friendly hug. Tears misted his eyes, but he didn't cry. He'd done enough of that the night before with Geoff.

Phoebe hugged him back. "You keep in touch...and you call if you ever need anything, okay?"

"I will. Take care, Pheobe. And it goes both ways. If you need anything...You know."

"If it changes I'll be sure to let you know."
