Clinic Hours - Friday January 13th 2006
Taking his time coming up from town, Wilson let Cash off his leash to run around the courtyard the way the puppy was used to playing in the morning. Sipping his coffee, he gave the young dog a half an hour before whistling and calling to him. Unlocking the clinic doors, he set about getting the place open for the day.
Cash ran down to the end of the hall and whimpered a couple of times at the door that lead to the apartment but a pause in his activities and a cuddle from the oncologist, coaxed the puppy back up to the front of the clinic. Coffee was started and music was put on, playing quietly at the desk. Rather than picking up his usual crossword puzzle, Wilson tugged out a small rubber ball and sat in the waiting room, tossing it up against the wall for Cash to chase and try to catch.
Doctor and puppy are in! By all means stop by.

Re: The Waiting Room - Friday 1/13/06
"All right. I'm going to take blood today before your treatment. I'll make a review of your cell count and see if we can't take a brief 'vacation' from the chemo."
He smiled in a gentle manner. "There are some other options we can review once I get a feel for where you are in your over all response to the chemo. We might be able to go to a radiation only regime for a month and give your body a break."
Re: The Waiting Room - Friday 1/13/06
"Whatever you feel is appropriate. I know that I should have a few more months of treatments, and the pain is manageable," he somewhat lied.
"I just don't want to have any... episodes at home. Listen, Dr. Wilson, I know that ultimately the treatment should come first, but I don't want her dragging me to the Clinic in the middle of the night because I pass out and hurt myself, or something even more dire. She's done too much, I don't want to upset her any more, if I can avoid it."
Re: The Waiting Room - Friday 1/13/06
"Gil, I haven't lied to you yet and I'm not going to start. This is where it gets hard and you have got to be able to trust those around you to help you through it. I've met Sara and I'm fairly certain she'd shove a test tube up your nose if she could hear you right now. Trust me, not letting her help you is robbing her of the only thing she can control in all this."
Re: The Waiting Room - Friday 1/13/06
"I understand that on some level. And Sara has been very clear on her stance on the issue," he said wryly. "But ultimately it's my choice to make. If things were different, I'd hire a nurse and I'd allow you to pump me full of antifreeze if that's what you thought would be helpful.
But my health is at a point where if this continues I can no longer take care of myself, and it isn't an issue of trust, it's an issue of...
I won't allow her to watch me... deteriorate, to that point. I won't have her changing my bedpan.
Whatever you think is best, I will follow. I trust your medical advice. But I need, this, to be taken into consideration. If after the tests you think I'm going to need to continue with this aggressive of a treatment, and we can't find a solution to my issues, we'll need to discuss an alternate arrangement," he said rather ominously.

"Well, as the saying goes...let's not go borrowing trouble. Come on back, I have a whole new stack of Ranger Rick for you and we'll get the blood drawn and get back to schedule."
Touching Grissom's shoulder briefly, Wilson stood up and waited for the professor to join him.
An Exam Room - Friday 1/13/06
He left the magazines alone, saving them for until the drip started.
