Clinic Hours - Friday October 28th 2005

So, if Wilson happened to be looking a bit tired but extremely smug with himself, it wasn't likely anyone was going to notice, especially as the Clinic was blessedly quiet while he went about opening it up this morning.

Back to the Jamacian Blue Mountain roast in the coffee pot, the delicious smell of fresh brewed coffee filling the air as the oncologist opened the doors and flipped on the lights. He actually had some legitimate paperwork to hash throught today but he paused in the shuggling of charts to grin at the "CYK" House had left on his crossword puzzle yesterday.

Coffee brewed, Wilson poured himself a cup and flopped down into the chair behind the front desk. Picking up a chart, he began to work with it, while at the same time mulling over a few other issues chasing around in his head.

Doctor on Duty, time to get in those last minute check ups before Parents descend!

Parker is *whistling* as she packs up her stuff. "It's been fun, Doc, but let's not do it again any time soon."

Without looking up from the chart he was puttering with, "Didn't you leave last night?"

"Nope." She shrugged. "Too tired. I meant to, but I just crashed back out after the last check-up." She grinned, then bit her lip. "Um. My father *might* want to talk to you this weekend, if you're around... I didn't actually tell him about this. I'm hoping I won't have to, but I wanted to give you a head's up."

Wilson peered up at her from beneath his lashes but then nodded and straightened.

"Certainly. I don't have any problem with that, if I'm not here holding hours, just have me paged, the number is up on the Emergency Contact board."

Relieved, Parker nodded, and then held out her hand. "Thanks for everything. You know. Tubes, drugs, making sure I didn't die... I appreciate it." Her mouth quirks. "Do you need a new set of golf clubs? Or a car? Something in a Mercedes?"

Chuckling softly he reached out and took her hand, giving it a solid shake.

"Glad to be able to help on the whole, not dying part. And while I appreciate the thought, I think I'm set on the whole material goods thing for awhile."

Dark eyes twinkled good naturedly as he refrained from giving her the 'stay out of trouble' lecture...cause...what good would it do anyway?

Leaning back he reached into a drawer and tugged something out, tossing it towards her...a red lollipop, of course.

She did *not* squeal with glee. Much.

"Good-bye Doc! And thanks again!" And with great relief, Parker escaped the clinic.

A distraught looking Lana comes in, assisted by Maia. "I'm not really sure what's wrong, but I seem to be missing certain parts of my memory," she says nervously.

Wilson looked up at the two girls with a blink and the pursed his lips slight and set the chart in his hands off to the side.

"That sounds a bit out of the ordinary. Are we talking short term, recent events or older memories?"

Maia is out of breath. "she doesnt remember Archie at all. Thats her boyfriend" Maia said. She gave Dr. Wilson a smile remembering him from her stay there last week.

"I swear to you, I don't have a boyfriend here. But, Maia says I do and I Can't imagine why she'd lie..." Lana shrugs uncomfortably. "I don't think I've forgotten anything else, but I guess I wouldn't really know, would I?"

Maia looks offended "I'm not lying at all. You do have a boyfriend named Archie"

Lana looks at her friend with tears starting in her eyes again, "I'm sorry, Maia, I didn't mean to say you were lying. I know you wouldn't do that. But I *swear* to you that I can't remember anyone named Archie!" She looks at Dr. Wilson agitatedly, "I don't understand this. How could this have happened?"

"Oh sweetie don't cry its ok. Shh its ok" Maia hugs her close.

"I'm sorry," Lana said, "I don't mean to get all upset, but Maia... God, it's just too much to take in. How could I have forgotten him?"

Maia hugged her close and kissed the top of her head. "Its ok sweetie, we'll find out why. We'll fix it baby." Maia stroked Lana's hair back and continued to hold her.

Lana nodded and let herself be comforted by Maia. Everything just seemd so upside down right now, it was good to have someone there to support her.

The doctor tried to follow all of that, really he did but it wasn't easy so to cover his genuine confusion, he smiled warmly to Maia and then walked over to Lana.

"Has something happened recently? Lana did you strike your head or...eat at the cafeteria?"

It was best to cover all the basis, if for no other reason then the whole, narrow it all down till hopefully you can find an answer, factor.

Lana tried to smile at him, but didn't quite manage it. "I don't know. I remember being out in the woods last night and being really upset. I sat down by a tree to try and calm down. I think it was part of a garden maybe because it had one of those little signs with a saying on it, like you find in some gardens. It said 'Be careful what you wish for' and I remember thinking about it and then the next thing I remember I was back in my room and I felt happy and wonderful."

For a man who really did try to live his life grounded in the idea of science and what was medically explainable...even Wilson's mind could make this jump.

Looking over at Maia he asked. "Do you happen to know if Lana and Archie were having some disagreements?"

Maia glanced at Lana well she doesn't remember anyway "Well I know Archie left last week, after... after they " Maia looks at the doctor pointedly so he gets her meaning "And last night Lana was upset thinking he just up and left after he got what he wanted. He left her with no word, nothing he was just gone."

Sitting down on the counter, Wilson set one foot up on the chair and leaned down on his knee.

"Lana, do you happen to remember where you were exactly?"

He had an idea.

"I *think* I was off in that strange forest at the edge of campus. I remember running off the path - just don't remember why I was so upset. I just kept running till I was exhausted and this tree was... just there. I'm not even positive it had been there until that moment." Lana frowns as she realizes how wierd that sounds. "Which sounds impossible, but at this place..."

Paige rushes in looking for Lana

"what's happening is Lana ok?"

"Paige," Lana looks up at her gratefully. "I... Maia says I've forgotten stuff and we figured I should come here and have the doctor check me out."
