Bright Lights in the Clinic Room: OUT OF THE DARK FINALLY!!!

Maia held Tara's hand as tightly as she could with her right hand and held Phoebe's hand tightly with her left. It was a human train pulling Maia up and away from the darkness of the room. All at once there was a bright flash, Maia heard movement around her, sheets rustling and people's voices. She tried to open her eyes but shut them quickly as the lights overhead hurt them. She moved her toes and fingers, her whole body ached and her hand throbbed where the IV was. "H-hello?" Maia whispered trying to open her eyes against the light.

Paige smiles "Maia! You're back" she says standing up and moving closer

Maia turned her head and blinked her eyes again. Her throat was so dry she could barely speak. "Paige" Maia's throat scratched as she spoke, she tried to swallow but couldnt her mouth was dry.

"I'll get you some water Maia, don't try to speak."

She pours a glass of iced water into the glass and puts a straw in it holding it to her lips

Maia takes the water gratefully, smiling as it soothed her throat. "thank you" Maia laid her head back on the pillow. She put her hand in Paiges and closed her eyes for a moment then opened them again and smiled. "I'm still here." Maia seemed to melt from relief. "I'm still here." She squeezed Paiges hand

She smiles, "yeah, you're still here, with us. And we're not gonna let them take you again. I'm so glad you're back Maia"

Maia smiled up at Paige, she looked at her hand in Paiges and smiled at that as well. "18 again" She breathed. "Tara told me it couldn't turn me back, she kept telling me I was the same as when I left. I'm still the same right?" Maia glanced around the room spying herself in the mirror her eyes blurred with tears. "I-I look terrible." Maia whispered, it was true, she had bruises still on her arms but they were fading, her eyes were dark underneath and slightly swollen, the fact that she was white as a sheet made her apperance seem even worse. Maia stared at herself.

"Yeah you're still yourself, still 18, don't worry" she says reassuringly

"And you don't look that bad, you've been in a coma Maia, don't worry about that. I don't suppose I'm looking all that hot myself" she adds with a little smile

Maia shivers a little and looks at Paige. "Your not jagged anymore." Maia smiles without realizing what she has just said. "I-I don't remember what happened Paige. Wheres Sara? Is she ok? Was there an accident?" Maia is looking very scared. "I was in the dark, Sara... where is she? She was with me, in the dark and I don't remember."

"No I'm not jagged anymore I'm me, all me," she bites her lip "I don't know much about Sara, I've been trying to stay away from people, I'm sorry I can't help you there."

Lana came forward a little hesitantly. "Maia, Oh, I'm so glad you're awake again!"

Maia smiled weakly at Lana and then more brightly. "Me to." She smiled again. "You came to see me, everyday." Maia sipped on her water that Paige had gotten her. "How are you?"

"I'm good, I'm good. I'm... I was just so worried about you. And I'm so glad you're awake again!" Lana reached out and tucked a lock of hair behind Maia's ear. "Thank god you're better."

Maia smiled. "I'm glad to be awake. Very glad" Maia lays back on her pillow taking Lana's hand. "How is Archie?" Maia smiled "You wanted to tell me about him, when I was in the dark." Maia smiled "You sounded really far away but I could hear little bits and pieces of what you were saying."

"You could hear me when I talked to you?" Lana says in surprise. "I mean, I know I hoped you'd be able to and know you weren't alone, but... I'm glad you could. As for Archie..." she blushed a little. "Well, things went a lot further than I ever dreamed. We, well, Tuesday night we made love."

Maia smiled "Yes I could hear you. I was happy you were there. I tried to squeeze you hand to let you know that I heard you..." Maia paused "You did? Wow! Was it nice?" Maia is amazed and happy to be talking about normal things. She was so happy for Lana. "Are you happy about it?"

Lana flushes even more. "It was really... pretty amazing. I mean, people talk about how wonderful it is and all, but I guess I never expected it to be so... *intense*. And happy, yeah... I'm happy. I just," she bites her lip and looks a little uncomfortable. "I guess I just worry. I mean, we're from such different times and in his time good girls don't, you know? And I don't *think* he thinks any less of me, but..."

Maia smiled sadly thinking of Sara for a moment. She pushed the sadness from her face, happy for Lana. "No I don't think he does at all. He seems really wonderful." Maia thought for a moment "And really cute" Maia smiles at Lana.

Phoebe is standing at the doorway, not wanting to disturb anyone. She is just happy that her friend is back with them.

All the attention around Maia, people fussing and moving about, Maia saw Phoebe standing away from the crowd, she seemed so removed from everyone, she was happy though. Maia caught her eye and smiled. "Thank you Phoebe."

Phoebe smiled at Maia. "I told you I wouldn't leave you there, love."

Phoebe didn't want to crowd her friend so she was standing apart. The last few days had been hell in her life, but seeing Maia talking and smiling made up for so much.

Maia grinned broadly and reached for Phoebe's hand. "And you didn't. Thank you Phoebe. You and Tara, you found me. In the dark you got me out." Maia smiled again "I love you Phoebe."

Phoebe came to Maia's side and took her hand, then hugged her friend.

Maia melted into Phoebe's arms. She stayed in the hug closing her eyes and breathing Phoebe in for a moment. "You found me." She whispered, close to tears. "You found me." Maia shivered as the memory of the pressing darkness was still very real to her.

"I'll always find you," she said softly as she held her friend close. "I'll always find you."

Maia looked into Phoebe's eyes for a moment and smiled. She kissed her softly on the lips. "I know you will." She laid her head back down to Phoebe's shoulder looking at her hand in Phoebes. "Tara was right, I came back the same. Not a little girl. I was afraid, I would come back that way again you know."
