There was only one coffee shop on the island again, as there should be. Stark had stopped at the Perk and picked up the usual number of coffees (PSL in case the flavor vanished in the next day or so).

He set the coffees down as he walked in and looked at Stabby's tank.

"It seems very full," he said. "I didn't know they made costumes in his size. Or that he ate candy."

"He looted the Walmart," a nurse explained. "He might need a storage tank to keep everything in. Maybe a garage?"

Stark was just going to spend some time trying to figure out if a crab garage would fit in here and what a crab garage might look like and why it would be a garage if Stabby didn't have any vehicles.

The clinic was open, the crab had a lot of ill-gotten gains, and the alien was distracted by the idea of crab vehicles.

The crab might share some candy, especially if you admired his lobster costume.

And,lo, eventually, once her own initial tasks at work were finished and she had a little downtime, Summer was shooting off a text to the person she could only assume had left that gift for her:

Stark grinned at his phone when the text came through but it faded into a frown. Was she still talking about the necklace? Summer had made it very clear on Saturday how much she'd liked that gift.

your necklace? I know you do!

Summer's head tilted a little at that, with a small frown until she realized that the Squishmallow had been sent by a secret admirer, so clearly Stark was just playing along with the bit even further, sort of like he had with the pillow wall during the trip.

And she'd messed it all up. Good one, Summer, geeez.

obviously the necklace yes.

BUT...

If anyone were to say get me any OTHER presents totally secretly i would definitely want them to know how much i appreciated those ones too

Stark frowned again.

He hadn't left any gifts, had he? Did she want him to? He was never quite sure if he ought to be giving gifts but it certainly sounded like she wanted more of them. He could do that!

It took Summer a second to parse through some of that and remind herself that she needed to get Stark better at texting, really, but it was adorable.

This conversation was making a certain squirrel feel very annoyed right now, really.

Summer took a moment to poke the cute face of the Squismallow fondly, and wondered what she could get Stark to return the favor.

how are things at the clinic today?

That squirrel should have known better, honestly.

Stark grinned widely at his phone, prompting at least one nurse to give him a rather epic eyeroll.

quiet so far Stabby looted wallmart he has a lot of candy

Well, maybe certain squirrels expected more from certain aliens than STOLEN VALOR.

As if Summer wasn't literally already surrounded by every kind of Halloween candy imaginable right now as it was.

A pause and then another message.

are there cheese holidays? I can bring you candy later if he shares

And what? Was a certain squirrel supposed to just see a pink squirrel Squishmallow in a giant pile yesterday and not stealth away with it for certain not gross, very beautiful and incredibly stubborn ginger ladies? P-shaw.

im sure if I asked apu he'd have a whole list of cheese holidays for me. which is exactly why i am not asking apu anything. but id love some candy later thank u. do u want some cheese?

Maybe certain squirrels didn't understand that certain ginger women could be both gross and beautiful and also kinda sorta dating certain glowy aliens?

He looked up and asked "Stabby, is any candy for sharing?"

The crab made an affirmative motion and a nurse nodded and held up a KitKat. "He's really good at sharing."

and Stabby will share candy

Sounds fake, but okay, glowy boy.

then u bring the candy and I'll bring the cheese

There was a pause, before she added:

and we can put them both in jello 😇

Stark let out a delighted laugh at that last message. This earned him more eyerolls from the nursing staff.

only a little cheese in jello please

There was no laugh to pull eyerolls out of Summer's coworkers (and the panda might be tempted to throw paws if he knew what was being discussed), but she did smirk at her phone quite a bit as she typed out her response.

ALL the cheese in all the jello. Lime jello especially. WITH the chocolate

Stark actually giggled a little as he sent that text. The nurses just shook their heads at him.

About 45 seconds later a 😛 came through. Stark hoped that was right.

You might get candy in here for being brave!

No candy here because I didn't bring any to work with me. Alas.
