Fandom Clinic; Thursday [06/22].

Usually, Libby tried her best not to eavesdrop too much on the nurse's idle conversations between tasks, not unless it was something specifically to do with medical things, but sometimes, there were also things that she couldn't help but catch and latch onto and even comment on.

"I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head a little and blinking over from her work on the computer, "did you just call it a crabitat?"

The nurse immediately got defensive over her new word for Stabby's tank, but Libby shook her head again, a little more fiercely now, as she explained, "No, no, I love that. I'm just surprised no one's come up with it before!"

And maybe someone had, and they all forgot, but Libby really hoped this time around? Crabitat would stay, so much so that she might use some of her more idle time between modules and reading and possibly even a patient or two to make a nice little "Stabby's Crabitat" sign for the tank.

Where you, too, can appreciate the crabitat!

"Good morning Libby!" Kurt said with a grin as he walked into the clinic.

It had been less than a day since their last handwaved date. But that didn't mean he was any less excited about seeing Libby again. There never was such a thing as too much time with your girlfriend right?

Well, Libby could point to probably at least a dozen different thing that would firmly argue otherwise, but those were all things that she had categorically chosen to ignore.

"Good morning, Kurt!" she said, smiling back, relieved for a nice reason to take a break from her work and already wheeling back to grab the extra chair.

"Did you know," she was obviously very excited to impart this new knowledge she possessed onto others, "that some of the nurses have been calling Stabby's tank a crabitat now?"

"A crabitat?" Kurt said, tilting his head to the side a bit and then grinning. "Oooohhhh! Like a habitat for Stabby! That's really clever" he said thoughtfully as he made his way over and set out the container with today's lunch date offerings.

"Right?" asked Libby, clearly delighted by it. She was, in fact, quite convinced it was pretty much the height of brilliance. "I can't believe we never thought of it before; I was thinking of making him a nice sign. Stabby's Crabitat. Or Crabitat Sweet Crabitat."

She had one more proud beam at her sign ideas before her attention eagerly shifted toward the food.

"What've we got for lunch today?"

"Oh I am sure Stabby would love either of those signs for his tank... I mean his crabitat!" Kurt said excitedly. It really was a very good idea Libby!

"And went with some nice sandwiches this time," Kurt said with a grin. "Turkey, goat cheese, spinach, tomatoes, and pesto. I hope you like it!"

"Kurt," said Libby, fixing him with a fond, amused, lightly chiding look. "When have I ever not liked any of your food? Those sound amazing."

That was true... but there was a first time for everything. Not that Kurt was going to risk jinxing things by saying that out loud.

"True, very true" he said with a grin as he pulled out the back of chips he had brought along as well to complete the lunch.

The girl grew up eating squirrel stew and dandelion salads; you were just fine, Kurt.

Libby snagged a few bottles of water for her own helpful contribution.

"How has your morning been?"

"Been good, I had no classes or anything today so I actually managed to sleep in a little this morning" Kurt said with a grin."How about you? Talked to Zo lately?"

"Just last night, actually," Libby confirmed with a nod. "She finally got back to me about yesterday's shirt, and, just as I suspected, I'm pretty sure it'l be her favorite so far. Good thing I really know how to get pudding stains out of just about anything!

"She also said," even after all her time here, Libby's voice dropped a little bit into a conspiratorial whisper to reveal the next part, "she and Claire have big plans for Pride this weekend, and they invited me along, but I haven't decided yet, if I might go or just stay for the one here."

"Oh that is a dilemma," Kurt said with a slow nod, and he considered that for a moment. "I'll be sticking around the island but definitely plan on checking out what Steph and everyone has planned for Pride this year." He broke into a small smile as he added. "I'll probably end up on a call with a few of the team too over the weekend if I know them."

Libby nodded again, thoughtfully. Of course, she'd thought of inviting Kurt along, too, but she knew that would involve its own kind of difficulties. "It's a really tough choice," she admitted. "They're going to Nashville, so it'll be a lot bigger than the one here, and I'd like to stick around and support everyone, but I don't get to see Zo and Claire very much anymore. It would be nice to see them again..."

And then, an uncertain pause.

"Would you be okay with it?" she asked. "If I did go?"

Now it was Kurt's turn to be thoughtful for a moment as he looked at Libby, a somewhat confused look on his face.

"Of course I'd be ok with it... Why wouldn't I be?" he asked, tilting his head slightly as he gave Libby a smile. "Zo and Claire are your friends. You need to be able to see them and spend time with them. You support us here in Fandom all the time. You support me all the time" he said with a gentle smile as he reached out and put his hand over Libby's. "Go do the same for your friends back home.. and I will be right here waiting for you when you get back" he said, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "Be sure to give them my best ok?"

As Kurt took her hand, Libby ducked her head a little, a small smile on her face even as a blush sprung up, part embarrassed, and part a little bit mad at herself, because she realized that what she was asking for was his permission. Which, fundamentally, she knew she didn't actually need, but that conditioning ran deep, and she shook her head a little, as if that would help loosen some of it from her brain once and for all.

"Do you think," she said thoughtfully, glancing over at him, "we could maybe Facetime each other? A least a bit? That way, neither of us would miss as much, and you can send them your best directly. No need for the middle-woman."

"Of course we can. Whenever you want. As often as you want" Kurt said with a warm smile. "Wouldnt be a celebration weekend without getting to at least talk with my amazing girl friend and her super cool friends, now would it?"

Kurt thought for a moment as the smile widened as he gave Libby's hand a gentle squeeze. "How about I Facetime you at least once from the festivities, give you a quick tour of whats going on here on the island? And then later you can show me a little taste of what they are doing back home?"

It was still odd... nice very very nice... but still getting some used to the whole boyfriend and girlfriend thing. Kurt loved everything about it but still had to remind himself that it was real and that he wasn't just dreaming.

"That sounds perfect," said Libby, with a nod, and a pleased smile and a squeeze of Kurt's hand. "I know I'm going to want to see how much fun everyone here is having. And Zo will be thrilled to get to say hi, and I don't think you've even met Claire yet, but don't worry." Another squeeze. "Zo's told her all about you."

"And I can't wait to see how they celebrate Pride in Nashville! And it would be good to see Zo again and to finally meet Claire" Kurt said excitedly. "And it's also good we get to have another lunch date before you have to head off as well" he said with a grin.

There are, at the moment, no crabs here.
