Fandom Clinic, Tuesday

The bunting was gone by the time Will made his way into the clinic. Well, mostly. Some of it was in Stabby's tank, and he seemed to be making something with it.

"Hand-crab-ted decorations," one of the nurses explained. "Stabby's going to sell them on SeaBay."

"It's environmentally-conscious, since he's repurposing old decorations," added another.

Will wasn't sure this was going to be all that profitable a venture, but then again, what did he know about this kind of thing?

How Cutter managed to get Connor to the clinic he didn’t know but somehow he did, trying his best to take as much of Connor’s weight as he could but he was finding it difficult to stand upright, “Hello?” he called out, as he tried to get Connor to take those last few steps, “I need help!”

"I'm fine... Nick... I'm..." Connor managed to get out in a whisper, though he really was anything but fine.

Cutter winced at how clearly not fine Connor sounded, "it's okay Connor, we're at the clinic, you'll be okay..." maybe if he repeated it enough, he would believe it, he looked over at Will, "he will be okay, won't he?"

He should have checked on Connor last night when he got back.

"Connor, buddy, can you hear me?" Will asked, once the nurses had him set up in an exam room.

The nurses were already on it, wheeling out a gurney and taking Connor from Cutter and laying him down.

"We'll take care of him," Will told Cutter, as the nurses wheeled him in to an available exam room. "You can come with me, so long as you stay out of the way as we work," he told Cutter as he started towards said exam room.

It took more effort than it should have, but Connor managed to open his eyes and looked around him. "Dr Halstead?" he asked, "where...where are we?"

Well, he was responsive at least, which was a good sign. The confusion less so, but it didn’t seem as if there were any immediate head trauma.

“The clinic. Your friend Cutter brought you in.”

Cutter stood off to the side so that he wasn’t in the way but that Connor would know he was there.

He should never have let it get this far and he watched with concern at what was happening, wishing there was more he could do.

"Oh.. right..." Connor said as he looked over and saw Cutter. "I... I remember now."

“What else do you remember?” Will said as he continued his examination, one of the nurses getting some fluids ready to hook up.

"We... had an argument..." Connor said, unable to look at Cutter as he spoke. "Nick was upset. He left the island before I could apologize. And I just... stayed in my flat for a few days..." Connor looked over at Will, realizing he had probably lost track of a few days in there during that time. "I guess it was more than a few days, though."

Oh wow look at that the floor was very fascinating all of a sudden as Cutter heard Connor relay everything that had happened.

This was all his fault, why hadn’t he checked on Connor soon? Instead he’d fled Fandom as soon as he could and now Connor was sick …

“Stayed in- did you eat or drink anything during that time?” Will asked with a frown. It sure as hell didn’t look like it.

"A little... " Connor said. "I don't really remember the last few days, though."

"All right," Will said, even though it wasn't. But it was important that he not agitate his patient anymore than he already was, so any lecturing about poor eating habits would happen later. "We're going to get some fluids and nutrients into you, first of all," he explained. "And while you're here I'm going to check on your injuries, see how they're healing."

Connor cringed slightly at the mention of his injuries. He was supposed to have gotten to the clinic and kept up with his recovery once he had gotten back to Fandom, and that obviously had not happened. "A-Alright" Connor said softly. "I... I should have done that before now I guess."

Cutter had not done any of that either and he bit his lip, he really should have done a better job checking in on Connor and supporting him and instead he'd done the exact opposite.

"Um ... our specialists at the hospital were going to send all our files over," he said quietly, not quite able to meet anyone's gaze.

"They did," Will said. "And I would've liked to have seen you- both of you- in before now," he added a bit sternly. Connor's injuries weren't healing quite as well as he would've liked. Probably due to the fact that he'd been neglecting to take care of himself for the past few days.

It was Cutter’s turn to cringe a bit at that.

He stared down at his hands, flinching a little as he did, “it's ... um ..." he tried to come up with a reason, "it's ...it's been hard settling back into Fandom, after ... everything, for ... for both of us," he finally said, which he realised wasn't an excuse but it was all he could think of.

"Had meant to. Just... didn't. Sorry" Connor said softly, hating to give such a weak excuse but it was all he could say really.

"Well, now as a result you're going to be staying here for a few days until you get your strength back up," Will informed Connor. "And you," he turned to Cutter. "I'd like you to go with the nurse here for a ~~very handwavey~~ checkup. Just to make sure you're not also going to end up staying overnight."

At least, not staying overnight as an official patient.

Cutter hesitated and then nodded, "okay, um I can do that," he said quietly as he went to follow the nurse for his checkup, he was trying to not to feel nervous about the idea of another check up but he was hoping that everything was fine ... at least physically because he didn't really like the idea of being a patient in the clinic.

He paused, "I can still stay with Connor though?" he checked before they left for the checkup, they weren't together anymore but Cutter was not leaving Connor alone after this, at least until Connor told him he didn't want him there.
