Fandom Clinic, Tuesday

There was pie at the clinic! Well, two pies, actually.

"What's this for?" Will asked.

"Pie day," one of the nurses explained. "You know. March 14th. Three point one-four?"

"Cool," Will said, and went to serve himself a slice.

"No!" One of the other nurses said, stepping in between him and the pies. "Not that one!"

"... Why not?"

"That's the crab's apple pie," they said, nodding towards Stabby's tank where he was currently... eating... clawing at? A piece of pie. "This one's a crabapple pie," they gestured to the other pie. "We can have that one."

"Why does Stabby get a whole pie to himself?" No answer.

Man, how many times had Annie and Will joked about the fact that she'd probably never actually need his services? And yet here she was, poking into the clinic a little hesitantly.

Given that she'd never stepped foot in here before, maybe that was earned, but it also might have had something to do with why she was here. "Hello?"

"Diego's great," Annie assured him. Though really, if he'd skipped the reset like Five had, she would probably be dragging him in here to see if they needed to do something official for those severed fingers. Lot of missing body parts there at the end! "Better than great, even. Though I assume you know about Five?"

Who was, quite honestly, handling things a lot better than Annie would have given him credit for.

"I'm keeping an eye on him," Annie assured Will. "He's been in my guest room making hand jokes, but I'll be pushy about it if it seems like he needs to come back."

Again, he was handling it well.

"I'm actually here...for me," Annie said, and that hesitant, nervous smile was back. "Is there somewhere private we can talk a little?"

"Great, because I did not bring any rum." Though maybe she needed to start carrying some, ironically enough.

Annie smiled, taking a deep breath. She'd known all of this for sure since yesterday, and of course she and Diego had talked about it a lot (like, a lot), but there was something stomach-flippy (in the good way, not the morning sickness way) about getting to tell another person.

And, more importantly, a friend, even if he was also her doctor. Annie wasn't like, tight with her GYN back home, after all.

"I am six weeks pregnant," Annie told Will, rocking a little on her heels with excitement. "With twins."

"Definitely hug-worthy news," Annie laughed, moving in for said hug and clearing up both matters. "The twin part especially -- I've known I'm pregnant for about two weeks, but we kept catching ourselves pluralizing the babies. Fandom always gives us twins, when we get those future kids and stuff."

"Yeah -- I have an obstetrician in my own universe who I'll be working with," Annie told him, a little apologetic as she pulled back. "We're planning on the birth being there just because of the my-biology of it all, you know? But I figured it's a good idea to loop you in just -- in case?"

Annie transparently did not like thinking about any kind of just-in-case involving her children, but she also figured she was going to need to get used to that.

"Ideally not at all," Annie agreed with a laugh. "And I figure we'll want to keep you in our back pocket for when they're here, too."

Especially looking down the road, at potentially two little superpowered toddlers with their father's vulnerability and both parents' lack of impulse control.

"But yeah! I have all this paperwork, if you want copies," she added, gesturing to her bag. "We did the ultrasound to peek at them yesterday -- sex is a mystery, but we can see there's two. But if those future peeks are accurate, it's a boy and a girl."

"I definitely want to know," Annie decided, nodding. "Just to make sure we're ready with names, more than anything."

At this point, though, these kids were pretty solidly Maggie and Ben in her head, so she would definitely want to know early if they needed to be called something else.

"I hear these baby things are pretty compact," Annie said lightly, "but yeah, we're working on that, too. Helps that I don't have to pay for an off-island house for Diego's siblings anymore -- we can work on our own mortgage, instead."
