Libby had been a bit scarce this week; last week had given her a lot to think about, and she was busy with finalizing her plans for the holiday. The fact that she dragged her suitcase to the clinic with her made it pretty clear that she was heading out pretty much as soon as she was done here, and it would be nice to just spend a nice, long stretch of time back home with family, and she was excited to see what Grandma Jean had in store for them for Christmas.

So Libby settled in, tried to focus on getting as much work done as she could before the holiday, and noted that the only ball pit here seemed to be in Stabby's cage. She didn't know how she felt about the fact that it was also crabbed shaped, but Stabby seemed to be having a ball (ha!), so she supposed it didn't matter.

Of course, unless there was any reason to use it, they might never find out that the entirety of Exam Room Five had turned into a ball pit, which was a shame, because all of the ornaments in that one were, of course, crabs.

Yes, yes, it did.

Which would be great for him decorating his crabtree later!

So yeah, last week had been a lot. And Kurt had spent most of the morning debating whether he should skip the lunch at the clinic today. But ultimately, he decided not going would be worse than going. At least this way, Libby could tell him she wasn't in the mood for lunch or hanging out if she wanted. And so, there was Kurt, walking in a bit tentatively, giving Libby a small wave and an overly shy grin as he approached the front desk.

Libby had been wondering, if Kurt would still be stopping by this week, just as she'd been wondering what she would even say to him if he did, or if they ran into each other around town or the dorms, and even though she thought about it a lot, she still wasn't quite prepared for it. She did feel her face instantly turning red, though, as she glanced over from her computer to see him coming in and gave a shy smile back, pushing her chair just a little bit away from the computer.

"Hi, Kurt."

"Hey Libby" he said with a smile, feeling his face heat up a bit, the memories of the last visit still very very fresh in his mind. Kinda hard to forget what was such a wonderful yet sadly not 'real' sort of thing.

"I won't stay long if you are busy or anything.... I just wanted to bring by lunch, since... I wasn't sure when you were heading off to your folks" he said, noting the suitcase near the desk.

"No, I'm not busy at all," Libby assured him, "and I'm leaving pretty much right after my shift ends, so lunch sounds perfect, since I won't have much time to grab a bite to eat later."

As she rolled her chair back for the familiar action of grabbing onto to pull over for Kurt, though, she found herself pausing, remembering how differently it had gone last week. The red in her face deepened and she almost hesitated a little, before turning to the desk with both chairs.

"I'd love the company," she said, "if you've got the time to stick around, anyway."

Kurt likely visibly relaxed at that and gave a small sigh of relief. He had been worried he had messed things up last weekend. That either Libby wouldn't like him now after seeing him that way, or that she would be disappointed in how he actually was every day. So it was nice to hear she still wanted to hang out and all.

"I'd love to have lunch with you before you head out" he said with a grin as he took his usual chair and set the bag on the desk. "I went a little simple this time. Hope you like hot ham and cheese sandwiches and tomato soup!"

"Ohhh, I love grilled cheese and tomato soup!" Libby said, her eyes wide with approval and half surprised her stomach didn't make an agreeing little rumble at the prospect. "Especially when it's colder out. I never really thought to add ham to the sandwiches, though."

Well, probably because ham...and most meat, really, that hadn't been hunted...was considered a bit of an expensive luxury.

"That sounds amazing." She grinned. "Good fuel for the road later."

"Aye, it's so good on a chilly day isn't it?" Kurt said with a grin of agreement. "We've made it with ham, chicken, and even bacon the few times we were able to get some of that on the farm. I can make some different types once you get back." Kurt gave a shy grin to Libby. "It will definitely be cold enough for a while. We could have soup and sandwich lunches till it warms back up!" And maybe they would find time to make some themselves, together... but that wasn't something Kurt was going to say out loud just yet.

"Definitely something to look forward to," Libby agreed, although warming up didn't seem to be a big concern right now, between the heat across her cheeks and the feeling spreading from her chest.

"When are you taking off? Are you still planning on heading back for the break?"

"Yeah, my portal back is first thing in the morning tomorrow. Will see the folks for Christmas, then spend a few days after with the team." Kurt looked at Libby and hesitated a moment before asking. "How long are you going to be gone for? I'll be back before New Year's Eve for sure."

"I might stay until after," Libby said, with maybe a faint note of apology in her voice. "Get the most out of the visit home while I'm there, and I think Zo wants to drag me out for some kind of New Years party."

"Oh of course! Always got to make the most of the time away," Kurt said with a nod. "I hope you enjoy the time with the family. And give Zo my best. I feel bad that when she was here last, I didn't really get a good chance to say goodbye." Ya know, given all the family drama and such that had happened.

Who knows? Maybe an entire room-sized ball pit filled with crabs is exactly what the ~~doctor~~ nurse-hopeful ordered?

I could not get out of working holiday orders today, which means I will very likely be AFK for most of the day, dealing with people panic shopping for the snowstorm coming up as well as my most passive aggressive supervisor trying to guilt trip me over the fact that holiday orders SUUUUUCK and I HATE THEM, ugh.
