Stabby's tank was full of candy. Which was unsurprising, given yesterday's events.

The candy was also in the process of being sorted into neat little piles by type.

"Good man," Will said, gently fistbumping the tank. Because obviously meticulously sorting one's candy was worthy of praise.

Where there's probably still some candy that doesn't belong to the crab.

It had been six weeks since Arthur had arrived at the clinic, and six weeks since he'd gotten this damn cast on. It was (hopefully!) time to get it off.

He and John made it around all the damn stairs and back to the clinic hopefully.

"Doctor Halstead?"

Will looked up from the medical journal he'd been scrolling through online at the sound of someone entering the clinic.

"Arthur!" he said cheerfully. "Here to secure your freedom?"

"Please," Arthur said. "If I have to wobble up another set of stairs, I may explode."

"All right," Will said, biting back a laugh, because poor guy. "I want to take one more X-Ray before we go ahead just to be sure, but we should be able to get that cast off today." He waved Arthur into one of the exam rooms.

Might be some candy here too.

Once Arthur was in the room and situated on the gurney, Will had a nurse take an X-Ray of the leg.

"Everything looks good," he reported to Arthur. "We're all set."

"Oh, thank fuck."

"Agreed," John added.

"What do I need to do? Anything?"

"Just stay very still," Will instructed as one of the nurses handed him the cast saw and he got to work slicing through it.

"Still. Right. I can do still." Except for the vibrating out of his body, but that was mostly metaphorical. He grabbed John's hand to steady his own and lay back and lay very, very still.

Cast saw time! Which didn't take long at all, and then Arthur's leg was free. If kinda gross looking after being in a cast for all that time.

"You'll probably want to wash up as soon as you get back to your hotel room," Will advised, along with some ~~handwavey~~ instructions on other basic after care. "And you might need to use a cane for a while as well. But that should be easier to handle than the crutches, at least."

"Yes, thank god. It itches." He knew better than to scratch too much, but he was absolutely going to rub it a little.

"It looks disgusting, Arthur," John informed him in no uncertain terms. "It hasn't gained as much weight as the rest of us, and I think there's...dead skin or something all over it."

"Well, I suppose with all these steps, I'm bound to gain more muscle tone soon. And a real bath will be perfect!"

“At least the hotel rooms here are well equipped for that.” The rates might be outrageous by Arthur’s standards, but for the amenities provided and general quality of the rooms they were an absolute bargain by today’s.

"Oh, yes, I can't wait." Arthur huffed in laughter. "Though I really should get a flat now I've got a job."

He levered himself up, John helping, and swung his legs carefully over the side of the bed. "Right. Here goes nothing."

We got all of five trick or treaters last night, so I also have candy.
