Libby wasn't really too big on sweets, it was true, especially since the ones from the bakery here seemed particularly indulgent for her rather simple tastes, but she had to admit, it was nice to come in and see that there were donuts for everyone. Stabby, in particular, seemed to be really enjoying the treat.

Which made sense, the holes in the donuts meant he could hold them much more easily.

And it all seemed fine, just a normal day at the clinic with everyone going about their usual work and business, just with the added bonus of treats, until Libby, her attention honed in on the module she was working on on the computer, absent-mindedly reached into the box of donuts to pull out another one and inspired a ripple of gasps throughout the nurses nearby.

Confused, Boston Creme donut in hand, Libby blinked for a moment and stared, wondering what had caused such a reaction and the next thing she knew, one of the nurses was sweeping in to swipe that donut out of her hand and turn a worried expression toward the box from whence it came.

"How did that get in there?" she wondered, angrily searching through the selection, but it seemed to have been the only one.

"Is...is there something wrong with it?" asked Libby, feeling almost as if she'd narrowly dodged a bullet.

"Look at it!" the nurse insisted, holding it out, but Libby just shook her head and looked helplessly lost; it looked like a perfectly fine pastry to her...

"There's no hole!" the nurse explained, helpfully pointing out the very obvious way in which this donut failed to be as ring-like as the others.

"...does that matter?" Libby asked, genuinely curious, but the nurse just let out a frustrated sound at Libby's continued ignorance on such matters, shaking her head and going to search through the other boxes to ensure that no other non-hole donuts had snuck into the mix.

And Libby....figured it was best if she just...went back to work.

No non-hole donuts allowed! Apparently....

No doughnuts here but oddly enough the theme had permeated even Kurt's lunch time offerings.

"Hey Libby!" He said with a grin. "Hows it going? Brought something for lunch" he added holding up the bag in his hand.

"Hi, Kurt."

The grin on Libby's face was a little held back as she gave a somewhat concerned glance toward the nurse who had absconded her non-hole donut, and then considered the bag in Kurt's hand.

She had already, however, wheeled her chair back to grab another one for him.

"It's going well, thank you. How are you?"

And then, a bit more cautiously: "What did you bring?"

Did the non-hole rule apply to other foods that weren't donuts? Maybe they were about to find out!

"I brought home made onion rings today" he said, setting the bag on the counter and taking the second chair from Libby with a smile. "This is my first time making them completely on my own. I think they turned out good so i wanted to share them!"

Libby's laugh in response was more relieved than anything else. "Onion rings," she decided, "sound perfect."

And conveniently, safely within the arbitrary restrictions being placed on food that day, apparently.

"I'm sure they turned out great," she added, "but I'm glad to be able to judge that for myself."

Kurt smiled and slid one of the containers over to Libby and set the other one down in front of himself.

"If you think they are any good, I might make up another big batch for tomorrow night!"

"Maybe," said Libby, as she pulled the container closer, "you could even experiment a little with some other vegetables in the same style. Sort of like the tempura we had when we went to Japan for Dr. Lecter's last class."

Some day, some how, she will get the group to eat more vegetables!

"Oh that's not a bad idea Libby!" Kurt said with a grin. "Thanks, might have to try that for next week!"

Though... all the batter and frying MIGHT negate any of those pesky vitamins and such in the veggies.

You took your victories where you could find them; that was a lesson Libby had learned well dealing with her siblings, and she was certainly going to apply it here, as well.

"I'm looking forward to it, then," she said.

Or maybe Triumph would be, all things considered.

"How has your day been? Did you have you classes already?"

"Had Paleontology class this morning. Otherwise been a relaxing day. How about you? No major emergencies her at the clinic I hope?"

"Not unless you count donuts without holes as an emergency," Libby said, a little wryly, because, apparently, some people did. "Just another quiet day, and thank goodness for that. I've mostly just been working on some training modules on the computer."

"Oh that's good. I had to spend some time on a facetime call with The Professor the other day. Seems someone from the team will be coming by to check up on me and see how things are going." Kurt rolled his eyes a bit. he wasn't a little kid! He didn't need anyone checking up on him!

"I'm honestly surprised," said Libby, teasingly, unable to help from grinning a little, especially with that eyeroll and the disparaging look on Kurt's face, "they haven't had to send someone sooner!"

Kurt gave a mock glare to Libby then sighed and shook his head. "Yeah yeah... laugh it up," he said with a chuckle of his own. "I'm just a little worried cuz The Professor won't tell me who he is sending. Just that it's one of the team. So it's likely either Storm, Scott, or Logan...."

"Who," Libby noted, her amusement not going anywhere, although, she had to admit, the thought of it being Logan might have her sweating a little, after the call from space!, "as far as I can tell, are all very different. Sounds like he's trying to keep you on your toes a little by making it a surprise..."

Her head tilted thoughtfully.

"Who would you want it to be?"

"That is a tough one- they both have good and bad things that come with them" Kurt said with a sly grin. "Storm can be a little motherly at times but shes really cool and I love spending time with her and talking with her. Scott can be a bit overbearing and a perfectionist with us at times but he is a lot of fun to hang out with. And Logan is a bit (understatement) rough around the edges at times but I really like getting to hang out (and get into mischief) with him."

"So pros and cons no matter who shows up," Libby noted, although she felt like she had her own preferences there, but that hardly mattered. "Either way, I'm sure you'll be on your best behaviour when they get here..."

She paused, with a grin.

"Well," she amended, "for at least two out of the three options, anyway."

"Hey look at that! You haven't even really met Logan yet and you already understand!" Kurt said with a wink.

"Well, you've definitely told me enough stories about him," Libby pointed out, although the red creeping onto her cheeks had nothing to do with tales heard second-hand, but she was grinning back all the same, "that I feel I know plenty to know enough!"

There may be a small chance that one of these rooms is being used for very important hole-creating donut surgeries.

It isn't a pretty sight.
