Fandom Clinic; Thursday [01/06].

It had already been a pretty wild week for Libby so far; it was almost a little too overwhelming, and she was definitely looking forward to some quiet time to herself (...somewhere; obviously, she wouldn't be getting much of that in her room, but there was a library! And the woods!), but first before she could do any of that....she had her first day at the Clinic!

This was what she had been looking forward to all week, even more so than starting classes at an actual high school (which was not at all what she was expecting!), and she knew it was going to be a lot, but she was ready for it! The nurses were so nice, too, in showing her around and teaching her the basics, but at the same time, they seemed to enjoy having someone so eager to learn and quick to pick up on things,and it turned out that she'd already knew plenty of the basics just from having to take care of all the Littles and their various scrapes and scraps and that one time Charity choked on that chicken bone.

And there was plenty of information to pour over and techniques to learn, so that even if it was a nice quiet day at the Fandom Clinic (the nurses assured her that most days actually were, but when they weren't? Boy, would she be in for it!), she was not going to be bored and there was plenty of things she had to catch up on!

After he had finished his photography class, Kurt had most of the day off to himself so he was definitely going to explore the island some more after he had lunch.

So, with the camera from class hanging around his neck and a small bag in tow, Kurt headed out to find the clinic. He knew Libby had said she would be working there and he really wanted to see how she was doing with settling in and all.

"Hey Libby" he said with a wave as he walked in. "How are you doing?" he asked as he walked up and gave her a smile. "Brought you a little something," he added as he lifted up his tail, showing the bag hanging from it and held it out to her.

Try as she might, Libby really couldn't help boggling a little more over the fact that not only did Kurt have a tail, but that he could also just use to to hand her something like it was nothing at all! Still, they also had a teacher that was as tall as a tree, so, really, she was starting to learn that she shouldn't be surprised by anything at this point, and she had to laugh a little, as she gingerly went to reach out and take the bag.

"Hello, Kurt," she said, carefully holding the bag close to her now that she'd gotten it from his tail, and smiling fondly over at him. "I'm doing well, thank you, and this is awfully kind of you. What's in it?"

Kurt gave her a smile in return and nodded towards the bag in her hands.

"Was feeling a little homesick so I decided to ~~handwavely~~ try out the kitchen in the dorms and make one of my favorite dishes from back home in Germany. It's spaetzle. Nothing fancy, noodles and a simple garlic butter and herb sauce. There was some left over and... well... I didn't know if you had lunch or... how long you would be here today..."

Aaaaaaaand he was rambling again so he just gave a shy smile and shrug and looked at Libby. "I hope you like it."

And now she was starting to recognize some of the smells since the food was pointed out to her, and, following suit, she almost felt her stomach made a little gurgle of a reminder that she hadn't really eaten much yet that day except for the almost too-sweet cookies and hot chocolate that Dr. Halstead had brought in.

"I have a few more hours," she said, "but, no, I haven't had lunch yet. I've been so caught up with everything here that I've nearly forgotten about it. So it's probably good you came by! Oh, Kurt," she set down the bag for now, since she really didn't know what the social rules were for eating lunch on the job or in front of other people, especially since, well, meals were pretty strictly regulated and an 'at the dinner table only' sort of thing back home, and implored him with a wide-eyed but eager expression, "there's just so much! And we've even had a patient today and everything. But don't worry," she was as quick to assure him as she had been Dr. Halstead earlier, "she's fine, it wasn't anything too serious, but it was," she looked a little guilty admitting it, but not too guilty, "awfully exciting!"

"I'm sure she was in good hands with you here to help," Kurt said with a reassuring grin. "I'm glad things are going good for you here. It's pretty awesome hasn't it? All these new people, the classes, and this island! I haven't had much of a chance to do much exploring but it seems like there is a lot here, for it being such a small island and all."

He gave a moment thought then turns to give Libby a grin. "I'm still trying to figure out what I should do. I mean right now I'm happy exploring the island and settling in. But eventually the free time is going to catch up with me" he said with a chuckle.

In a way, Libby was kind of glad Kurt went ahead and said more after his part about not being able to get out and explore much yet, because that was only reminding her of the fact that she'd almost had too much time to explore, with how much she'd been avoiding spending too much time in her room right now, and just sort of met everything else with a smile.

"I'm sure you'll think of something," she assured him. "There's all sorts of stuff here, and I've barely even had the chance to meet many people, not even everyone in my classes. I'm honestly really looking forward to spending a nice quiet weekend just tucked away in that big old library they got here. Or maybe out in the woods for a bit; it's so pretty here, even in winter."

"Yeah that library sounds awesome" Kurt agreed with a grin. "And Guillermo and I hope to get out and find this game emporium we keep hearing about because that sounds like an amazing place to go see!"

Cuz ya know, geeks will be geeks after all, no matter where you put them. Kurt gave Libby a thoughtful look for a moment before offering with a slightly awkward smile.

"If you wanted to go check out the beach any time, I've been out by the lighthouse once. It's really nice out there, plenty of rocks to sit on at low tide. Little cold but if you stay out of the water it isn't too bad."

"Oh," said Libby, grinning a little at Kurt teasingly, "so you weren't inviting me to the beach to go for a swim?" And she had to laugh a little at that before adding, maybe a little sheepishly, as she thought about what Jo had mentioned about going places without proper chaperones and realizing that the only person outside of her own family she'd ever really spent time with one-on-one was Zo...and, well, technically Vi now, too, but that was more like forced existence in the same space rather than spending time together, "but I guess we could go check it out. Do you think they let anyone up to the top? I bet the view of the island from up there is really something else! You could probably see so much of the ocean!"

Look at her, so wrapped up in everything that she hadn't even had proper time to be excited about the ocean all that much yet!

"Well it's a little cold for a swim, considering it started snowing last night," Kurt said with a playful smirk and teasing tone. "But if you really wanted to swim I guess you could."

He gave Libby a smile and thought about her question about getting up in the lighthouse. "I'm sure we could ask someone to take us up there if we can't go alone. And I could always get us up there real quick probably if we wanted to just go on our own."

"You could?" asked Libby, who then remembered some of the things Kurt had told her before the bus trip. "Oh! Do you mean beacuse of some of your Mutant powers? Kurt, can you actually fly? Or teleportation? You mentioned that some Mutants can do that, didn't you? Or are you really good at climbing?"

"I actually am pretty good at climbing. But getting to the top of the lighthouse would be a challenge for me on my own, let alone carrying someone else." He paused for a moment before breaking into a huge grin. "But I CAN teleport and I can carry someone with me. For short distances. But getting to the top of the light house shouldn't be too difficult. We could see the sights, and I could take some pictures for my photography class too!"

"But is that..." This had been a week filled with things Libby would have never expected she'd ever be thinking about, but teleporting... She leaned forward, her voice dropping to almost a whisper as if worried of getting caught talking about something that seemed so dangerous and strange. "Is that safe?"

"I've been teleporting around for years" Kurt said confidently. "As long as I can clearly see where I am going, I usually don't have any troubles. And I've carried people with me before."

Shorter distance and only during training with Scott and Logan but.... he was still pretty sure he could manage it.

"We can always do a few practice runs around here. Maybe out in the woods or something. Let you get used to it, cuz it can be a little disorientating the first couple times you teleport if you are not used to it."

"I've never teleported before," Libby admitted, but, then again, there were a lot of thing she'd never done before that she'd done in the past few months, and she laughed, because it was pretty obvious she'd never teleported before, considering...

"I didn't even know telportation was even actually possible!"

Oh, Zo was not even going to believe her!

"Can I...can I see you do it?"

Kurt nodded and gave a small smile. He glanced around real quick and then just disappeared in a small puff of purple-black mist. A second later he appeared standing just on the other side of the desk next to Libby.

Even though part of her was expecting it, Libby couldn't help giving a small gasp of surprise when Kurt disappeared. And she jumped a little with another startled sound when he reappeared a moment later, hand over her heart, which seemed to be beating a mile a minute!

"Oh, wow," she gasped out with a laugh. "You really did it! You really did teleport! That's..." She almost didn't even know if she had a word for it. "Amazing! Does it hurt? What does it feel like?"

"Doesn't hurt. Feels... weird though" Kurt admitted. "It's hard to describe it. At first it's disorienting but I've done it so much I don't really notice it any more. You do feel a little chilled afterwards but that's from the second or two you are in limbo while moving from one point to another. Otherwise it really does feel any different to me since I've been doing it since I was like 10 years old."

Libby nodded, feeling the urge to jot that information down for reference, it seemed like a good thing to know, in the grand scheme of things, even if she doubted she'd be dealing with too many people who teleported in her future as a nurse.

She bit her lip a little, trying to curb the tide of curiosity washing over her, but Kurt really didn't seem to mind that she asked him a lot of questions, he didn't seem to think she was trying to pry or find out about things she shouldn't know about.

"And is it something you can do often?" she asked. "Does it get pretty tiring if you do it a lot? I bet it does, like with any physical activity, like running or jumping, right?"

"Yeah, it does" Kurt said with a nod. "I can only teleport a few times before I get tired, or if I travel too far at once I can get a little weak and tired. I've been working on it though and getting better at going farther and more often before I start to feel worn down. Though..." he said with a moment's pause "the one constant drawback to it all is I have to eat. Like a lot more than a normal person. The more I teleport the more I have to eat to keep my energy up."

"Well, that just makes sense," Libby reasoned. "Food is fuel, and I bet it takes a lot of fuel to completely disappear and reappear somewhere else in just the blink of an eye!

Kurt nodded and smirked. "Which is why you may be getting some more lunches where that came from once I get familiar enough with the island to start porting around. Will be working up an appetite" he chuckled.

"Speaking of which, I don't want to keep you from your lunch and your work" he said with a nod towards the bag. "Can... can I ask you one favor before I go though?"

Libby was going to ask why she was the one who would be getting lunches when he was the one who would be needing them, but the last past grabbed her attention much more.

"You did bring me lunch," she acknowledge with a smile. "I'm pretty sure that means I owe you one anyway."

So you could try the new recipes he would try from his cooking class of course, Libby.

"Would... would you mind if I took your picture?" he asked as he held up the camera slightly. "It's for the photography class I'm talking. Our homework for next week is to take some pictures to try out the cameras and to share them with the class. I got a few of the buildings around the dorms but... I...." yeah and he was gonna trail off there again as that awkward stutter started to set in.

Why, that wasn't even a hard favor to fulfil at all, and Libby nodded, smiling already.

"Sure, Kurt," she said. "You can take my picture. Should I grab a clipboard and try to pose all professional? Or just..." She shrugged her shoulders with her smile gone maybe a little sheepish and awkward, "...like this?"

"How about both?" he said with a smirk as he snapped off one shot and then gave an innocent grin as he waited for her to get into a more professional pose.
