"Coffee and cocktails," Jenkins mused, as the emergency broadcast ended. "You know, that's a new one even for me."

Then he went to go check on the clinic's coffee supplies, and order several gallons more as needed.

Which is now being funneled right past the coffee machine.

For the comatose, who will hopefully shortly be cured!

I don't even drink coffee and now I kind of want one.

Still here, still comatose... for now, anyway.

Yeah, Kanan was still here, too.

And probably about to awaken to the realization that he could never bad-mouth Earth coffee again.

Kathy still looked like she had since Thursday--pale and wan, with dark circles under her closed eyes.

There was clearly something unnatural about her unconsciousness as she hadn't tried to stick her cold feet onto anyone, even once.

Not for long, anyway, even if Verity had missed the explanation of just how to wake him up. All she knew was that a squirrel had braved Baltimore to talk to her mice--and that was a friendship she was going to have to interrogate pretty hard, yup--and all she knew was that Liam had been attacked and had been lying unconscious in the clinic for days. Alone.

"Hey," she said, slipping into a chair next to Liam's bed and carefully taking on of his hands in hers. "C'mon, Sheriff, asleep on the job? That's not gonna look good come performance reviews."

She wasn't a patient, but she was here for one. "Mr. Jenkins?" she said, oddly relieved to see him in change of all this. She didn't know what was going on, but it was weird and kinda magical, so he was probably the best person they had.

Sorry about the hug, Jenkins. It was just a lot of relief.

The moment Norman had heard the broadcast, he'd steeled himself and set out into town. There were... things... out there, but making friends with the local ghosts had its benefits, and they managed to keep him on a route through town to the Perk that didn't involve running into roaming packs of evil dogmeat.

Which meant it was about twenty minutes after the broadcast that Norman made his way into the clinic, a little wide-eyed, uncertainly holding on to a few trays of extra large coffees. He had a tab at the Perk, now, to be paid off after his own first payday, but the barista had been pretty understanding, all things considered.

"Does anybody need these?"

Whether they were comatose or had simply been up for the past two nights worrying?

Jenkins was startled, to say the least, but life with Cassandra Killian had prepared him at least a little for unanticipated physical signs of affection.

"Ms. Verity. I'm glad to see you're alright. Are you here to visit one of our unfortunate patients?"

"We do have some of our own, but back up supplies are always appreciated, Mr. Babcock, thank you." Jenkins came over to help relieve Norman of some of the burden. "I take it you took appropriate precautions in obtaining these?"

"... Precautions?"

Norman hadn't done any drinking, if that was what Jenkins was asking. He looked faintly quizzical as he handed one of the coffee trays over.

"Yes. They're things you do when entering potentially dangerous situations to reduce your chance of ending up like your ghost friends."

"Like ask my ghost friends for the safest route to take through town without running into those creatures?"

Norman looked faintly sheepish.

"Because that's what I did. They're very helpful. I'm more useful to them alive, I mean."

Jenkins nodded. "Excellent. I'd hate to think I hired a fool."

"Given the consequences in this case especially, I'd hate to disappoint," Norman replied, a little wryly. "If you need me to run to get more supplies... uh... coffee, I guess? I'm willing to go out there again."

Socially awkward, but brave, that Norman.

"Liam," Verity said, her thumb jutting out over her shoulder to indicate the blonde guy sleeping in one of the cots. Kanan, she recognized from around town, the sleeping Asian girl she didn't think she'd met at all. "I've been off-island since Monday, visiting with my cousin. What the heck happened?"

Everyone had been awake and non-comatose when she'd left!

"Some sort of demonic creature that feeds on life force. Oddly enough, specifically the life force of those who've been drinking, at least according to the odd comedic duo on this morning's radio broadcast."

There was, of course, no response. At least, nothing conscious. It was brief enough that it could be easily missed, but there was the faintest flicker of light from the hand Verity had taken hold of.

He had better be about to awaken!

Hera had brought a very large coffee and was now...more or less sitting behind Kanan to prop him up enough to hopefully get some of it in him.

“Hey, Kanan. I know it’s not caf, but this is supposed to work,” she encouraged him. “I should probably make some comment about this teaching you not to drink, but honestly who would’ve thought any of that would end up like this? Drink the coffee and get better so you can worry about the rest if you want to.”

It took some doing. Kanan wound up wearing more coffee than he swallowed, and waking up choking was a new experience for him, but that was at the very least more than he'd done since Thursday night.

Yup. Awake and trying to get up a lungful of coffee. Good morning.

At least he was awake! And partly covered in coffee or not, Hera was going to throw her other arm around him too and just cling tightly for a minute.

Kanan needed a moment to take a bit of mental inventory of his current situation.

He was... wet? And breathing was now difficult for several reasons, including but not limited to the coffee he was still intermittently trying to cough up and the arms around him, squeezing the life out of him all over again. The room was spinning, and it was a room he wasn't at all familiar with...

"Uh?"

Overall, it was better than his situation had been the last time he'd been conscious. But far more confusing.

Well, one thing was certain: Amaya would probably never make fun of someone for having champagne for their drink of choice after this. Assuming, of course, if she ever came through it.

"Liam doesn't drink much," Verity said, frowning. "But if even a few beers will get their attention..."

She frowned, looking at the door of the clinic. Part of her wanted to be out there, getting as much information as possible. The rest though--

Liam didn't deserve to wake up in the clinic alone just because she wanted to go get data.

"How long has be been out?"
