Had Gabrielle gotten to see the whole transit of Venus thing this week? Yes. Had she subsequently found out that it was a once-in-a-hundred-years event? Yes.
Was she spending her shift writing letters home about it? Absolutely.
Pity any of her friends from thousands of years ago who got subjected to lengthy, incoherent, ink-smudged rambles about astronomy and timelines.
