FTEC, Saturday, (9/10) - The Clinic of Dramatic Events

Scully was checking on people. People who were there looking randomly ill. Did they have cancer? Maybe they had ebola! Maybe it was an alien narcotic coursing through their system, transforming them into flies-- no, wait, she'd already experienced that.

Whatever. She was a triple doctorate Ph.D and a Federal Agent; she would solve it.

Also, now she was eating for two. Mostly pistachio ice cream and green Jell-O. She'd have to call Bruce, her secret husband, and let him in on the impending happy event soon!

A pie plate floated after her without her noticing it. The nurses hummed an old spooky television theme, looking knowing.

They are sympathetic and wearing great outfits. They want to HELP you. Just HELP you.

For those who are ill! Or just hypochondriacs! Or having an assignation with a sympathetic nurse!

She's concerned about you. And why your blood might be poisoning you.

You know. Those sympathetic, sexually attractive people who are here to listen to you and then cure you of whatever ails you in whatever way you think is appropriate, regardless of medical guidelines.

Terminal Illness Hank stumbled in the door, looking pale. "I think I'm dying!" he choked out.

Bruce - wearing his wedding ring - walked into the clinic and strode right over to the desk. "Hello, my dear Dana. I hope you're well to... Ooh. Is that one of those new floating pie plates I've heard so much about?"

Bruce's wandering eye had struck again, but this time it wasn't focused on another person to secretly marry. For a change.

Scully smiled in delight at her husband, then beamed at it proudly. "Yes, it was just a little something I was working on-- it's not supposed to be following me though." She sighed. "I need my little hobbies! Since we don't get enough time together."

"You know how it is. I have international business to handle that keeps me occupied most of the time," Bruce said. Dropping his voice to a whisper, he added, "Also, we wouldn't want to raise suspicions."

"I know. I know..." Wait. "Why is that again? And darling." She placed her had on his, giving him a melting look. "I have something to tell you."

Dramatic. Pause.

"All that matters now is your news, my dear," Bruce said, sidestepping the question once again. "What is it?"

"I think," she said shyly, one hand on her stomach. "I might... there was that weekend, you know, in the B&B in Washington state..."

Where it rained dramatically. All the time. "...What do you think of the name Bruce Junior?"

The nurses-- sympathetically-- all came out in haz-mat suits, and zipped Terminal Illness Hank into an isolation bubble.

"Sir, do you have a fever? Contusion? Chills? Vomiting? Bleeding from every orifice known to man?"

"No," Bruce said, stepping away from the counter. "It can't be." Not today of all days! "It simply can't be!"

Scully stared at him, shocked. "Bruce? What? Why? Hunh?"

"You don't understand. I haven't been honest with you, Dana," Bruce said. "I've been sterile since... an accident years ago. I can't have children anymore."

DUN NUHHH!

"But I haven't been with anyone but you!" Scully protested. "For years! The tests must be wrong! It has to be you! And... HEY. YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT."

Wow, where'd she get that scalpel?

"It never came up in conversation," Bruce said, holding his hands up to show that he wasn't a threat.

"But I am pregnant!" Scully insisted. "I am! I did seven at-home pregnancy tests, then did the test here, then had the nurses do it, and I'm pregnant! I haven't had sex with anyone else! You're my husband, Bruce, even if you're a liar! It has to be yours!"

OR DID IT? DUN NUUUUUUH.

"Look in my file here at the clinic. There were tests run by doctors. It's not mine," Bruce said.

Scully staggered back, still holding the scalpel, then dropped it with a loud tinkling noise as she put her hand over her mouth, eyes huge. "Then how is this HAPPENING?"

"I don't know. But I have some international business to attend to. Let me know what you figure out," Bruce said, stepping back toward the door.
