The nurses were still giving her odd looks, but Chloe was feeling better about being in the clinic. It might have helped that she'd bought donuts and coffee as a peace offering, which warmed things up a bit. At the moment, she was trying to go through what was left of her bank accounts to see if anyone was on her trail, and it seemed like she was safe - as safe as she could be on this island, at least.

"Y'know," Ronan said, looking around as he walked into the clinic, "I don't think this place has changed a bit."

"I don't think it's changed at all in quite a while," Chloe said, smirking at the new arrival. "Are you a frequent visitor?"

Ronan laughed. "You could say that, I suppose. I used to work here, when I was a student at the school." He reached into his bag and pulled out a thin sheet of something rather like plastic. "And I was kinda hoping I could end up working here again. Heard there were some openings?"

It took a moment for Chloe to realize that hey, wait, she was the one in charge of allowing people to work here now. Mmmm, responsibility still felt nice, even so far from home. "We've got a bunch of openings, actually, it's just me and two other ladies right now. Are you a doctor of some sort?"

Ronan passed over the sheet; it was a convenient little touch-screen thing, in fact, softly glowing text scrolling at a finger's movement. "Not a doctor, but I'm a wizard with a healing specialty. And I spent the last year doing a series of internships at clinics around the galaxy." He paused. "Well, my galaxy, at least. So I've got a lot of experience with xenobiology as well as humanoids, for both magical and mundane medicine. You can see it all outlined on the sheet."

Chloe couldn't help but go "Oooh" at the sheet, especially a sheet with such promising credentials on it. "It sounds like you'll fit right in. Or back in. We're mostly healers now, so a wizard would be a good addition," she said. "What brought you back to Fandom, if you don't mind me asking?"

Ronan nodded. "I missed Earth, mostly, I guess -- I've been off-planet for almost two years now. And I heard through the grapevine that the clinic here was hiring, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to come back for something, I guess?"

Grinning, he added, three-quarters-jokingly, "Besides, Fandom always has the prettiest people."

"Mmmm, that we do," Chloe said, smiling slyly. "I just got back here a little while myself. This is an easy place to miss, that's for sure."

She handed him his sheet back with just a little reluctance. "Welcome back aboard then. We've got open shifts pretty much every day but the middle of the week. Is there a day you'd like best?"

"Why don't I take Mondays?" Ronan suggested. "That way I can get anyone coming in after doing stupid things on the weekend. And I'd be happy to cover any other days, as needed, if something comes up."

Chloe laughed. "Mondays it is. Considering you just missed a weekend where people turned into cute little ponies, I don't envy what you might end up dealing with."

"... Ponies?" Ronan asked. He wasn't exactly boggling because, hello, Fandom. Still, though. "I mean, obviously with the animal transformations and all, but usually that's, what, one or two people at a time?"

"Usually, yeah, but this was pretty much everyone. It was adorable though, so it was kind of hard to get pissed," Chloe said.

"That sounds awesome." Ronan laughed. "Please tell me someone remained human and got pictures?"

Chloe laughed and nodded. "There were a few lucky people walking around instead of galloping, so I'm sure they got blackmail material."

"I'll have to ask around when I get established," Ronan said. "See who I can get some off of.

"Anyway," he added, "I'll let you get back to work. I'm planning on checking into the Arms for the next few days while I find something more permanent. Got any paperwork I should take with me?"

"Not right now. I'll probably have stuff for you to fill out on when you come in for your first shift--" once she figured out what forms he might need to fill out "--but I don't need anything from you at the moment. Aside from a promise that you'll come back on Monday."

"You have my word," Ronan assured her.

If there was something a little odd about the language he used, at least Chloe -- like everything in the universe -- was guaranteed to understand it.
