Scully was researching porphyria now. Not that she wanted to inflict it on herself, but maybe, if someone out there could figure out a way to age someone up, without overdoing it or the worst side effects... maybe that would be a good alternative to finding another djinn.

The nurses were talking about Nosferatu Journals, and anticipating the return of the show and possibly more patients who didn't take 'don't try this at home' seriously enough.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't 'lunch-time', but since Momoko's portal was due soon, she really didn't want to wait. If Scully had patients or work or something, she'd totally be quiet and wait somewhere.

"Hiiii!" She dumped her duffel bag and pulled out a science guide. "All I have time for is basic review?" Please forgive her, Scully, if her eyes are a bit bloodshot and she wobbles. She's been up all night.

Scully gave her a careful look, then said, "Put the books down. And sit down. And did you sleep at all?"

Momoko put the books down on the counter and looked about for a chair to drag over. "Not really. I got a bit distracted and off schedule. But I'm back on, now. My portal leaves soon and my test is in a few hours, so I have to finish studying. All I have left is this. Well, at least until tomorrow night. Which is tonight, really, since Japan is a day ahead of us. I'm supposed to study more Japanese tonight."

"I hope you can make more sense in Japanese than you're making in English at this point," Scully said, rounding the counter to pull out a chair for her. "Sit. You're not doing any studying. You're resting. You can't do well on the test until you've had at least six hours, or you're going to fall asleep in the middle of the exam." She paused. "Now. How many *hours* until the test? Forget the time zones."

Momoko sat, pretty much on autopilot, and flipped open the study guide. "My portal is at four, which gets me to the National Lab at six in the morning. I can fly from there to the academy and I should be okay. I can sleep for a bit after that, I think. I have it on the schedule." Maybe.

"So. Three hours until your portal. And you didn't tell me how many hours you're on the plane. Or what time your test is."

See, they were doing math! It was like studying.

Scully slipped a small inflatable pillow under Momoko's arms, keeping her expression mild.

"Plane? What plane?!" Momoko looked stricken at her. "When am I on a plane?"

"You said you were flying to the academy-- you meant flying to the academy," Scully realized, slightly exasperated. "Okay, forget that. What time is your test, again? And you can't get a portal any closer to your test?"

No plane? Momoko sighed in relief and turned another page in the guide.

"It's not that easy! They hate me there, but also it's already tomorrow in Japan! Or it will be. The test is at eight in the morning, so if I take a four o'clock portal, I'll have two hours to get there."

So, since this was 10am as the mun has just decided that left only five hours until she had to leave, and an indeterminate length of time after that.

Scully took the book away. And gave Momoko a very stern look.

"You're sleeping now. C'mon. There are cots in the back."

"Scully, you've got my book? I can't study without it."

"You don't need to read it. I'll read it to you," Scully bargained, waving the book in front of her face.

Maybe she would. Or maybe she wouldn't.

"You're a danger to yourself and others, though, if you're going to fly on no sleep at all."

Momoko sagged in her chair. She really was tired...

"A short nap! Ten minutes. Fifteen, at most. Then we study? I don't want to forget everything."

"I won't let you miss your portal," Scully told her, neatly ducking that question. "There's a nice quiet room back here with your name on it. I'll explain the science to you when you wake up."

Momoko followed her to a cot, half reluctant, half dead-tired.

"Don't let me oversleep," she yawned, no hint at all of Scully's intentions making it thru.

"Got it."

They had completely different ideas of 'oversleep', but if she needed it that badly, it was better for her to wake up on her own. Scully would wake her up with an hour to spare, just in case, if she didn't earlier.
