FTEC, Thursday (8/5)
Another Thursday, another day spent in partial bio-hazard gear; this time analyzing Karla's venom, instead of gremlin-saliva'd-blood-samples. Analyzing its exact chemical breakdown might lead to ideas about how to neutralize it.
The nurses weren't getting near her when she was this muttery over chemistry.
[OCDon its way up!]

Talk to Scully
Re: Talk to Scully
Her eyes were narrowed and in her hand was her gun. The way here had been perilous enough. Doing it all over again, while twilight fell, was going to be worse.
For all of that, she'd not leave her roommate to get back to safety on her own.
Re: Talk to Scully
"Come to take me to dinner, or is something wrong?" she asked, reaching for her jacket.
Re: Talk to Scully
"This morning giant bugs began appearing on the island," she replied, standing up straight and glancing back at Scully. "I've spotted a few humanoid monsters. They've got hooks and are inclined to attack."
And she hated this last bit the most:
"Parts of the island appear to be disappearing, as well. There's strength in numbers."
And, well, Rosalind would've worried. Not that she'd admit that.
Re: Talk to Scully
A chorus of 'sure's and 'get going!' hit her, and Scully exited again, one hand on her weapon as she joined Rosalind. "Does anyone know why this is happening yet?" she asked.
Re: Talk to Scully
Re: Talk to Scully
The dorm had always seemed very safe; Ino had said so, over and over. Scully had assumed that applied to the cabins too, but now she wasn't so sure. If the gym had just vanished....
Re: Talk to Scully
It was hard to say.
"Do you know the number for the rickshaw service?"
Re: Talk to Scully
But of course, there weren't any in sight just then. Scully swallowed and concentrated on just moving forward, studying the landscape for other recent changes, hand gripping her sidearm. "You said-- monsters?"
Re: Talk to Scully
"Humanoid," she said, "but changed. They're fast and in my estimation are lethal if underestimated. You'll recognize them when you see them. The giant roaches are distressing--they're nearly two feet in length--but they're easily dealt with."
Those, at least, were the ones that could hurt you.
Re: Talk to Scully
Something skittered in an alley off to the left, and she tightened her grip on her weapon.
Re: Talk to Scully
"We should run," Rosalind said abruptly. "Otherwise we're slow enough for more of them to notice our presence."
And she couldn't slip around and sneak around while corralling her roommate.
Re: Talk to Scully
Re: Talk to Scully
It felt a bit like home.
The monsters were different and the disappearances were definitely new, but the danger and need to keep her guard up, watching everything? Was very very home-like.
That familiarity would probably be why Rosalind spotted the hook first as it came down viciously in their path. Shoving Scully roughly--no time to be gentle--out of the way, Rosalind found that she felt good.
"See," she said, ducking another swing and sounding unruffled. "Monster."
Now to shoot it...
Re: Talk to Scully
"Rosalind! Duck!"

Materia. Useful thing, that.
Now they could run, and she did, taking off and fully expecting Scully to keep up.
Re: Talk to Scully
"Did something... trade buildings... for insects?" she panted as they headed for a corner, and veered toward the cabins, across the park. "Bad... trade."
There was a shadow darting across their path, and Scully froze a moment, pointing her gun at it, squinting. "What the--?"
Re: Talk to Scully
Nothing but freak them out.
"Behind you!" The hook, however, was more than a shadow.
Re: Talk to Scully
A grotesque human figure dressed in a pink twin-set swung from a low branch, aimed another hook at her head and hissed. It looked like the second week of radiation exposure -- mixed with someone who wanted to create a hook-handed snaggle-toothed zombie. She shot on automatic when it took another swing at her.
Re: Talk to Scully
She didn't spot any more bugs, but it was getting dark. Harder to see them then.
Re: Talk to Scully
Re: Talk to Scully
She wasn't staying in the cabins when the base security of the dorms was much higher.
