FTEC, Sunday [01/24]

As much as Martha enjoyed being useful, she really wished that Fandom, just once, could be invaded by something cute and fluffy that didn't want to harm anyone. Of course, it would probably turn out that those creatures secretly poison people with adorableness or something, so maybe that wasn't such a wise hope after all.

She'd gotten back to the clinic early to get caught up on the newest patient records, and was content to leave the gremlin killing to others for now - unless, of course, any of the creatures were stupid enough to try to get inside the clinic. Martha hoped she wouldn't have to dispatch any of them here though. They made such a mess when they died.

Martha was around, muttering about how much laundry she was going to have to do when this was all over.

For those who are still here, and the newly injured.

Between sleep and Ino's healing, Jack was over the worst of his concussion. He still didn't remember about five minutes around hitting his head, but that seemed like the kind of frustrating thing he wouldn't be able to solve.

He propped himself up with pillows and flicked restlessly through some stupid magazine, praying for an early discharge. Ino had said he couldn't fight, but he was sure there was some way to honor the letter but not the spirit of that restriction.

Once she'd gotten through the patient records, Martha took a peek in each of the exam rooms, and was happy to find someone awake. "Hi there," she said, going over to the bed. "How are you feeling today?"

"Doctor," Jack nodded in greeting. "I suppose I'm as well as one would expect, perhaps a bit better."

Well. Other than the part where he was fairly certain he'd told Emma he loved her -- which made things so much messier -- but that was on the Repress and Ignore pile for now.

He gave Martha a pleading look. "Mostly, I'm worried about everyone else. Any chance at getting out of here today?"

"That depends," Martha said, checking his pulse and other vital signs. "Are you going to be more careful so you don't end up right back in here? You look well enough but pushing yourself right away might not be the best idea."

"I'll be careful," Jack promised, more or less honestly. "You likely have enough people in here without dealing with the same patient twice in one weekend."

And that much was the complete truth. He wanted to stay out of the clinic. The question was what he could do that would recognize his boundaries and still let him be useful.

Martha tried to take her time checking him, but in the end, she had to admit that she couldn't find anything worth keeping him for. "All right, you can go. But tell your friends that I don't want to see any of them in here either. If you're going to fight, be as safe as you can about it."

"I won't take any unnecessary risks," Jack promised. He was, in fact, considering spending the day helping the support people at Caritas. "Thank you again."

"You're welcome," Martha said, taking his file to tuck it away. Maybe if she hoped very hard, no one would be out there dying to take his place.

Martha was still here, now with a day's worth of coffee in her. Whee!

La la la, sticking this up early in case I sleep through my alarm again. (WTF body?)

If you're still here from yesterday, go ahead and make threads for yourself in the exam room sections as needed. (I figured that's safer than accidentally modding people who might have gotten all fixed up.) As always, I'll be around on AIM as fireballofkatie. :)
