FTEC, Thursday [11/27]

Being unfamiliar with Thanksgiving, Simon took the opportunity to find out exactly who was given thanks and for what. It wasn't like the clinic was busy anyway.

There were certain kinda injuries you could admit to. Like getting smacked in the line of duty, or getting shot or something. Cutting yourself while making breakfast? Not so much.

So it was a decidedly grumpy Ray (hand wrapped in gauze and all) who stalked into the clinic that morning. Recognizing the guy behind the desk (sorta), he called, "Hey, Tam!"

Stupid carrots. He hated them. Stupid eating healthy.

[ sorta sp as I need a nap! ]

"Just need some, what's it, anti-- something," he said, holding up the hand in question. And jittering a little. Reaaally hated this. "As long as it isn't made from a, uh, pregnant moose. And maybe some stitches."

"Don't knock the pregnant moose stuff," Ray replied, following Simon's gesture into the exam room. "It stinks bad enough to kill flies."

"Got into a, uh," Ray shrugged one of his shoulders, "Tangle with a knife, not important." Shut up; his ego was all he had, in the long game, dammit.

"Something like that." He shifted a little in his seat. Probably should stay still for the whole thing. Ray had learned that lesson. Finally, he let Simon take the hand. Somewhere under the bandage was a cut running down his thumb, not quite deep, but not quite shallow, either.

Well, that was a relief. "Yeah, okay," Ray muttered, "Just hurry up, I gotta get back to the station, lots of important, uh, paperwork to file." Which he would avoid filing until the end of his damn life.

"The island is the size of a doornail and deader'n one," he informed Simon. "Peace and quiet, not really my thing."

"Well, kinda comes with the job, right?" Ray shrugged. He didn't know doctors that well and was in no hurry to know more about the profession. "I mean, being a cop, there's a lot of bad people out there, and they kinda smell, you know? Smell of bad, bad people. But it's part of the job."

"Eh, if they weren't necessary, I'd be off working in a glue factory," Ray snerked, hopping off his seat. "Thanks, doc. Hope I won't have to see you here again anytime soon, no offense."

"Might get me a turkey TV dinner," he said, "I just got here, my family lives a couple states down..." My only real friend is Canadian, he didn't add, because that was just pathetic. "So kinda."

"Not from around here, huh?" Ray asked, possibly a little obviously. "Good luck with that."
