Doogie was there, if needed.

Doogie was still there, just in case.

Ichigo was awake. Very much awake and wondering when he could get the hell out of here. It was possible that he was putting all his energy into that last fact, to distract himself of what had happened yesterday. He wasn't exactly sure which part of yesterday was confusing him the most. He didn't want to figure it out, really. He just wanted to get back to the dorms now.

Ichigo is grateful for the chasing off. I think his brain is broken enough already.

Awwww. *hugs him*

When Doogie peered into the exam room to check their patient again, he was pleased to see him awake. "Hi there," he said, giving Ichigo a friendly smile. "How are you feeling?"

Sore was one answer. Ichigo went with the other. "Ready to get out of here?" he tried, hopefully.

"One of these days, I'm going to meet someone who actually wants to stick around for a while," Doogie said, smirking as he checked Ichigo's vitals along with his injuries. "You're not feeling dizzy at all?"

"And then you're going to wonder what's wrong with them," Ichigo shot back. "My heads a bit woozy, but I think that's from sleeping too much."

"Oh yes, because you can certainly sleep too much when you're hurt," Doogie deadpanned, letting out a little sigh. "All right, I'll let you get out of here, but you have to promise to take it easy. No running a marathon or anything. Make sure you keep all your cuts clean, and don't be all manly and not take something if you're still in some pain, okay?"

Ichigo looked instantly cheered up. "No being manly," he said seriously, nodding.

"Good," Doogie said. "And make sure you come back if you have any trouble."

"I will," Ichigo started to sit up and then realised he was missing something. "Um... I think Ino threw my shirt away." Or stole it, but there was blood on it, so possibly not.

"I can get you a shirt to wear back to the dorm," Doogie offered. "Something nice and plain, I promise."

"Thanks," he rubbed the back of neck sheepishly and glanced up at Doogie. "Are you a doctor?"

"Yes, I'm a doctor," Doogie said, having long since passed the point where that question bugged him. "I started training very young."

"So... Anything I tell you, you can't pass on. Right?" Ichigo asked.

"Yes, confidentiality still stands here," Doogie said. "Is there something you want to talk about?"

Maybe this wasn't the kind of question you asked your doctor. Ichigo wasn't really sure why he was asking Doogie to begin with. But there it was.

"What do you do if your classmate kissed you?" he blurted out.

"Did you not want to get kissed?" Doogie asked. That was kind of an important place to start.

"I wasn't really thinking of it!" Ichigo said instantly.

No, Doogie was not going to say that the idea of a teenage boy not thinking of kissing was crazy. Anything was possible here. "Was that your first kiss?"

Ichigo flushed and mumbled something and that was an answer in itself, really.

The nice thing about being young was that Doogie remembered this point in his own life well.

"Kissing can be a lot of fun," he said. "You just have to decide if you like this classmate enough to want to kiss them again."

See, but that was the problem. "But she's my classmate," he insisted. Didn't people get that it was wrong to kiss a classmate? And embarrassing.

"I'm pretty sure teachers are off limits for students, so your fellow classmates might be your only kissing options," Doogie pointed out.

Ichigo frowned at Doogie. "I wouldn't want to kiss my teacher! Some of them aren't that much older, but..." He glared at Doogie, as if he was responsible for the line of thought. "I'm not kissing anyone!"

"Hey, that's fine too," Doogie said, trying to sound reassuring. "You don't have to kiss anyone, if you don't want to. But you might want to mention that to your classmate, so it's clear they shouldn't try it again."

"But..." See, this was where the dilemma was and Ichigo flushed. "Right. I'll do that."

"You should still think about it though," Doogie added. "You might find that kissing isn't so bad."

"It's not! It's just..." he paused. "I'll think about it."

"Good," Doogie said, sounding pleased. "If you have more questions about that kind of thing later, I'd be happy to answer them."

Ichigo flustered and cleared his throat, suddenly feeling embarrassed. "Okay. Thanks."

"You're welcome," Doogie said. "I hope you feel better soon."

"Thanks, doctor," Ichigo jumped off the bed and then remember. "Um... shirt?"

"Oh yeah, hold on one second." Doogie went out to the supply room, and came back with a plain gray t-shirt. "Here, this should get you back to your room without making you flash anyone."

"Thanks. I think I prefer the non flashing days," he carefully worked the shirt over his injured shoulder before he pulled it on completely. "Um. How does the whole paying thing work here?"

"We make the school deal with it," Doogie said ~~making it up on the fly whee!~~ "You don't have to worry about paying anything."

And here was to hoping his father didn't hear back from it. He wondered if he should check that later. "Thank you. I'll um... get going then."

"Okay. Be careful," Doogie said for one last warning.

Ichigo waved his goodbye. And he would be very careful of blondes. Really.
