"You can explain to the guy at Chilly Boulder why we want everything in separate containers," Isabel snickered. "And don't forget the cherry for on top of the sundae."
"We don't want it to all melt into one big mess while we walk home," Wyatt said, eyes wide and innocent. "So we'll just put all the fixings together when we get back."
She wasn't buying the innocent act for an instant. But hopefully the guy at Chilly Boulder would. "We're going to have to do laundry tomorrow aren't we?"
After digging her own sundae from the bag, Isabel daintily ate the cherry, then contemplated the stem. "So did you ever see someone tie the stem in a knot?"
It took a minute or two and Isabel started to worry she wouldn't be able to do it. But all the practicing she'd done at freshman year slumber parties paid off. She stuck out her tongue and exposed a neatly knotted cherry stem.
