FTEC Clinic - Evening shift - Saturday, May 17, 2008

Igor was quite enjoying being a pony. The extra legs, he'd decided, were particularly beneficial. "I may have to add some when I return to my regular body," he mused as he clippity-clippity-clippity-clopped around the clinic.

Where there was an eight legged Igor pony.

Worf marched into the clinic with his tri-corder and headed for the front desk.

"I wish to speak with the chief medical officer."

Igor looked up at him. "I'm not thure I can help you with a chief medical officer," he said, clippy clopping his four front hooves on the floor. "I am the rethident Igor, however. How can I help?"

Worf regarded the "Igor" for a moment before shrugging. "I believe that the island has been hit by a virus which has re-written the DNA of a good portion of the populace and turned them into horses. My tri-corder scans appear to be inconclusive. I thought if a medical professional could review it they might be able to find something I missed."

Igor looked quite impressed. "Have you ever considered a career as a mad thientist?" he asked. "You thertainly have the lingo down pat." With a toss of his head, he skittered closer to Worf. "I have no idea what a tri-corder is but an Igor is a fast learner. You think the pony-affliction is a virus?"

"I'm not a scientist," Worf said briskly. "I'm a warrior. Do you have something that I can download my tri-corder scans to?"

"Possibly, possibly." Igor had abandoned the lisp, and he trotted over to wave his nose at the front desk. "Is there anything there you can use?" There was a computer, which Igor knew nothing about, and a jar in which a small nose, with legs, floated.

Worf regarded the nose for a second... and then attempted to download the data to the computer.

Which wasn't working. "This computer does not appear to be working with my technology."

"I'm afraid I can't help you there. If you want something stitched back on, or taken off, or extras, I'm your Igor." He paused. "Would you like something sewn on? I'm sure we could come up with something to complement your forehead. Perhaps an extra ear? Or two? Once I have hands again, of course."

Worf regarded the strange looking pony with a stare of disbelief.

"That will be quite all right. I prefer my limbs and appendages as they are."

"If you're sure..." Igor tapped two hooves on the floor. "As for this being a virus, I'm not sure sure that fits. Striking in a single day over so much of the island? We would have seen one or two incidents of ponying before today. Far more likely to be a magical cause. Someone pocussed when they should have hocussed, or didn't get the lightning just right." He sighed. "Flaming torches can't be far behind."

"I do not believe in magic," Worf said stubbornly. "There must be a scientific explanation."

Ponies don't have eyebrows. Still, Igor made an attempt to raise the brows he didn't have. "I'm sure you know best," he said. Don't contradict being bred into blood and bone, only the tiniest hint of doubt crept into his voice.

"I shall endeavor to do more research," Worf said putting his tri-corder away. "I thank you for your assistance."

"You're welcome," Igor replied. "Happy to assist wherever I can. If you change your mind about an addition, do come back and see me."
