FTEC, Sunday Day Shift, March 2

Doogie was making rounds through the clinic today, checking on Cameron, checking on the inventory, and making sure the other exam rooms were clean and tidy. It was a good way to stay occupied, he thought.

Isabel squeezed his hand in return, remembering how the contact had helped her. "I've got no where to be but here, for as long as you want me around."

"Thanks," he said softly. "I'm... I'll probably going back with Sam later today if they let me out of this joint."

For a moment she considered asking about his family and why he wasn't going to them. But given his reaction to the news about Antar, and the fact that he wasn't at the Academy which had been so important to him, Isabel was putting two and two together and coming up with the idea that whatever had happened, had to have been awful. "That's good. She'll look out for you."

"Yeah," he agreed quietly, fingers tightened around hers for a moment. "I missed people here."

"We missed you to," she promised. "It wasn't the same without all the Stickbugs around. And then they went and made me a Playtpus. Can you imagine that?"

He blinked. "No, not really. I think I've been away too long."

"Away too long, too much bad stuff, yeah, I get that," Isabel nodded. "I'm sorry. My attempt at distraction fell flat. I'll be quiet now."

"You don't have to be," he assured her, nudging his shoulder with his. "Tell me what's up."

"If you're sure," she said, nudging back. "Let's see. I don't work in the library anymore. Instead I work at a store here in town. I'm graduating in a few weeks. I've been accepted into one of my college choices, I'm still waiting to hear from the other."

Despite her worries about Cam, Isabel couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face. "I'm dating an incredible guy and I just got back from Spring Break in Mexico. So all in all, life's pretty damn good at the moment."

"Good to hear," he said gently, he meant it too but it felt strange that Fandom had just kept going. "So who's the guy? Do I know him?"

For good or bad, Fandom had a way of doing that. "Wyatt Halliwell," she said, still smiling. "He's the son of some alternate version of Piper Halliwell. He's a really great guy."

He shifted a bit at the mention of Piper. "Don't mention me?" he asked her softly.

It took Isabel a minute to realize why, but then she nodded. "If that's what you really want. But you might want to drop her a line at some point. Just let her know you're alive." She was speaking from experience, remembering how much she'd worried about people when they were gone.

"I know," he said softly. "And I will. Just... not now. She'll have questions and I'm not sure I can answer."

"I won't say a thing then," she promised. "You just rest and relax and do what you need to do."

"It's weird," he admitted. "I thought about what it would be like to get back. I tried to a few times at first and then just figured people would have moved on by now."

"A few more weeks and I would have really moved on," Isabel nodded, thinking of graduation. "I'm glad I didn't. And even if I had, I'd still want to know. The friends I made here are too important to forget."

"They are," Cameron agreed quietly, "but there's a lot out there."

"I know. I'm looking forward to getting out and seeing what's out there," Isabel replied. "That's the one thing about what happened with Antar. There's no more destiny for me. I just get to be a normal girl and live my life."

Cameron glanced sideways at her and smirked. "But you're not a normal girl," he teased. It was meant as a compliment really.

"No. I'm not. But I'm going to try and fake it," she shrugged, taking the compliment for what it was. "It's going to be interesting to say the least."

"I'm going to try," Isabel smiled. "No matter where I end up, you'll come visit won't you? I got accepted at UNLV. I bet we could have fun there for a weekend."
