FTEC, Tuesday, December 11 - Evening Shift

Wyatt was behind the front desk at the clinic. The TV was on and playing "American Riches," and he couldn't help but think that stealing the Declaration of Independence would be so much easier when you could orb.

Isabel poked her head through the door and grinned. "Is there a doctor in the house?"

"Does someone need her temperature taken?" Wyatt said, grinning at her.

"You wish," she teased. "I just have a delivery for the doctor type person on duty tonight." Said delivery looked an awful lot like two cups from the Perk and a bag that could possibly contain baked goods.

"Just what the doctor ordered," Wyatt said, pushing his chair out from the desk and standing up to give the girlfriend a hug.

The girlfriend was more then happy to hug back. "I needed a break from wrapping presents. I thought you might like come company."

"Always," Wyatt said, then added hopefully, "Presents for me?"

"Maybe?" Isabel grinned. "Maybe they're all for Max and Michael. You're just going to have to wait to find out."

"Fine, then I won't tell you what I'm getting you," Wyatt said.

Looking horrified, Isabel held out Wyatt's hot chocolate. "Of course you can't tell me. That ruins the surprise!"

Wyatt accepted the cup and took a sip. "Okay, so I will tell you," he threatened with a smirk.

"You're going to be mighty lonely," she threatened.

Wyatt wibbled at her.

Isabel was amused. "So no telling?"

"All right, no telling," Wyatt said. "But that does not rule out teasing hints."

"I suppose. But just remember. Lonely..." she grinned, pulling over a chair and taking a seat. "So what are we watching?"

"'American Riches,'" Wyatt said, scooting his chair closer to hers. "There's a treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence, and this guy has to steal it to find it before the bad guys can."

"So it's a historically accurate documentary then?" Isabel asked, bumping against his shoulder.

"Based on actual events," Wyatt said seriously, bumping her back. "Few people know the copy of the Declaration on display in DC is a fake."

"And the truth is only being told now? In this highly accurate film," she nodded, equally as serious. "History classes all over the country about being rewritten as we speak."

"Only a select few know the truth," Wyatt said. "And now we are among them. There are some who might kill for this knowledge."

"It means we're going to have to watch each other's backs," Isabel agreed. "To protect each other from more nefarious individuals."

"I've keep an eye on your back," Wyatt said, tilting his head and leaning back in his chair so he could peek down the back of Isabel's chair.

"The view down my front's usually a little more interesting," she pointed out.

"I'll keep an eye on that as well," Wyatt said. "Hands-on protection."

"I appreciate your time and effort," Isabel grinned, reaching for his hand. "So I've been watching the weather and I'm unhappy."
