FTEC, Wednesday, Evening Shift [Dec 5]

After his fun weekend away visiting Parker (an unexpected side-trip of which had delayed his return), Ronan whistled as he bustled around the clinic before settling at the front counter.

"It's snowing!" Isabel grinned as she came through the doors. "Isn't it great?"

"Exactly," Isabel agreed. "Although I refuse to get my hopes up for a white Christmas as nice as that would be."

She set Ronan's hot chocolate on the counter and carefully opened the lid on her own. "Your's is plain. I went for mint for myself tonight. It's like drinking a Girl Scout cookie."

"Nice disclaimer," she smirked.

Pulling a chair over, Isabel took a seat. "Well I'm glad I could help. I think it's the cold. It just sort of requires warm sweet stuff."

"Don't forget the spice," she teased. "Friday night was fun. Wyatt and I went dancing with Meg and Dean, but other then that it was fairly mellow. How about you? How's Parker?"

"Just trying to help out where I can," Isabel shrugged. "But you still had fun?"

Isabel stared. "Overzealous Tolkien fans?"

"Oh? That's definitely different." But sideways? "No lost time? Or extra time?"

Isabel nodded, "I figured, but I wanted to make sure. I worry."

Shortly after 8pm, Fandom's only Firecat was in the lobby with an unconscious body he had brought with him. That body happened to belong to Thursday Next who was now bleeding over the clinic floor thanks to a gun shot wound to her left shoulder. Upon checking that there was someone around to tend to Thursday, Altra disappeared again.

Thursday didn't reply at first, but as if her brain was catching up slowly, she responded with the faintest incoherent mumble.

Thursday wasn't inclined to move. Her body alternated between being too tense from the trauma when she as conscious and slack when she drifted out of consciousness again through her body's instincts rather than from her own control. She managed to stay still for as long as it took to move her.

The shot had been intended to harm rather than outright kill Thursday or even kill her before she had a chance to get some medical attention. Still, she had lost enough blood to be dangerous to her health. The pressure had been applied before by Sam Winchester and although it had started to bleed again, the pressure Ronan was applying was enough to slow the flow and get the blood to begin to clot.

Thursday suddenly sucked in a deep breath, but after that her breathing settled and her body seemed to relax as her body adjusted to the damage ebbing away.

She was still groggy, but responded to his voice by opening her eyes slightly. Her own body was exhausted. The healing had taken, but her body's effort of keeping her alive the best it knew how had worn her out. She looked as if she was about to say something, but her eyes closed again as she fell asleep before she had a chance to speak.
