Doogie was perfectly aware of who he was, which is why he was at work, taking notes from some interesting journal articles that he wanted to talk to the authors about later.

Once he'd been felt capable of walking after almost dying at J,GOB (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2110601.html), Rodney had accepted John's help in getting to the clinic. Which was certainly a mistake in and of itself. Even with amnesia, it should be impossible for someone to completely lack any sense of direction whatsoever. And John claimed to be a pilot. Ha!

"Help! I need some help here!" Rodney yelled with his once again strong voice. "I almost died!"

John had accompanied Meredith to the clinic, feeling he couldn't very well send him on his own. It wasn't his fault he couldn't remember where the clinic was. "I'm sure the doctor will be right with you, Meredith," he said. "Try to stay calm." He'd been saying that last part on repeat during the walk over.

Doogie came out from the desk at the sound of people coming in, and looked over the two guys to try to see which one was hurt. "I'm the doctor on duty," he said. "What seems to be the problem?"

"I had an allergic reaction," Rodney started to immediately explain. And then he actually looked at this so called 'doctor.' "No, I need to see a real doctor, not some wanna-be junior med student," he sneered.

Doogie sighed. "I am not a wanna-be. I'm a certified medical doctor with a license from the state of California, and I can waste some time here showing you my credentials, or you can tell me what you had an allergic reaction to."

"Oh, well then," Rodney was only slightly mollified but he decided to let it go for now in the interest of his own health. That was much more important than this credentials, glorified candy-striper though he may be. "I only had coffee and pie and it couldn't have been the coffee because I had quite a bit yesterday as well. Oh god, I can't be allergic to pie!"

"You're probably not allergic to pie, but there might have been something in the pie. Did it have any nuts?" Doogie asked, going for the most obvious answer first.

"No, no nuts," Rodney answered. "It was just a lemon meringue pie," he explained as if this should be nothing. Too bad he couldn't remember that he was allergic to citrus.

"Hmm." Doogie thought about the ingredients for that. "Have you had anything else with lemon in it lately? Or some kind of fruit?"

"Well, as far as I can remember, which, you know, is an entire day and a half," he added sardonically, "that was the first lemon I've ever had."
