Christian hung up the phone with a sigh. Julia had called him to give him an update on Matt's lastest escapades. The kid was a magnet for trouble.

He leaned back in his chair at the front desk and closed his eyes, hoping the rest of the day would be uneventful.

The doctor is in.

Stan was in his office, giving a very cute kitty (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1961732.html?thread=89532932#t89532932) some much-needed scritchings.

Office is open for your psych needs. Today may involve animal therapy.

Billy was clearly in a bad mood when he arrived.

Stan was mid-scritch. "--feel like I'm not even doing anything productive when I'm at a lack of clients--Hello, Mr. Kessler. It's good to see you. Please, have a seat." Mary!Kitty mewed at Billy.

"We have a guest this session, if you don't mind," he said, indicating the cat who was shedding all over his suit like a cat thing that could win something.

Hell the mere sight of the kitty helped mellow Billy out a bit. "I don't mind at all."

"You seem particularly troubled this week, Mr. Kessler. Did something happen?"

Kitty!Mary decided that Billy may give better scritches, as kitty!Mary was a cat and female, and that's what cats do. Yay scritches!

"I think I lost a friend today." Billy said sullenly. He'd certainly do his best to give the best scritches ever.

Kitty!Mary liked Billy. Best!Skritches!Evaaar!

"Is this related to the new interim principal I've been hearing about on the radio?"

"Yeah, fraid so." Billy said. Billy continued the scritches. At least someone liked him. ~~srsly, kitties are great therapy~~

"What happened?" Kitty!Mary used her special mew-fu on Billy, purring loudly. ~~Stan decided to check out the feasibility of replacing Prozac with scritching a kitty as a prescription~~

"I got into a...discussion with a fellow student. About whether to resist Umbrage or not. It didn't go well."

"And your stance?"

"I've been protesting her policies in subtle ways, wearing t-shirts with clever slogans on them. He thinks I'm being an idiot."

"And this escalated into a fight? Or a heated discussion, at least?"

"Heated discussion. I walked away before I went from defending my position to attacking him. Verbally I mean." Hee, cute kitty. Purring nice.

"How was your approach taken by this other individual?"

"Like I said, he thinks I'm being an idiot. Just trying for attention. Like protesting is just some game."

"And your opinion is that it's a valid form of protest?"

"Yeah pretty much." Billy shrugged.

"Was this a close friend? Someone you can calmly discuss your reasons for disagreement?"

"Not a really close friend no. But we got along pretty well. I tried to calmly discuss it, but the first thing he did was berate me, and it kinda went downhill from there."

"It's rather difficult to come to a peaceful discussion when both parties are not willing to entertain a discussion." The kittywitty was purring and a happy kitty!Mary.

"I was. At first. Then I kind of lost my temper." They should totally record a cat's purr for those relaxation cd's.

"But nothing happened? Insults, fisticuffs?" In fact, there may be a CD on the shelf behind young Mr. Kessler of kitty purrs, puppy yips, and other natural sounds.

"Just implied insults. I think he'd have walked away if it'd gone that far, but I managed to do it before it did."

"What are your plans for the future regarding this? Future interactions with this person?"

"I have no idea. Stay out of his way for awhile I guess."

"And if you are unable? Say, classes together?"

Billy sighed, frustrated. "I don't know, I'm used to having friends, much less making up with them."

Kitty!Mary tried to lick Billy's face. "That's a part of human relations, how you deal with people who disagree."

Billy involuntarily snickered at the kitty and redoubled the skritches. "Shouldn't I give us both time to, dunno, cool down first?"

"That would be advisable, yes. But do be prepared in case you have an encounter before both of you are ready to repair the damage."

Billy nodded. "Okay."

Kitty!Mary butted her cute fuzzy head against Billy, trying to headbutt his chin.

Stanley was trying not to melt from cute.

"You'll be able to handle yourself with this person?"

"Yeah." he said, softening, and butting his own forehead against her. If he ever figures out this is Mary he's gonna be mortified.

"Can't guarentee I'll say much, but I can keep my cool."

If Stan finds out that he's been confessing his loneliness and wondering how Mary and Millie feel about him to one of those parties, even in kitty form, he'll be mortified as well. Mayhaps Mr Kessler and Mr. Keyworth could have matching coffins.

"Good for you," Stan said. "I think that should about do it for this week. I've got to take this little kitty back to the hotel. Not sure whose it is, but the front desk person wasn't stopping the dog from chasing it."

Billy, almost reluctantly, handed over the kitty. "Bastards."

Kitty!Mary gave Billy's hand one last lick and one last headbutt try before trying to continue shedding on him. He placed her on the desk where she scampered about, pawing at the papers. "We do what we must to save who we can," Stan said. "Try to stay out of trouble while protesting," he said with a smile. Almost as if he was giving permission to rebel.
