FTEC - Wednesday Day Shift 7/18

All the patients had ~~escaped~~ been released? Wilson was quite pleased with this developement. Well, pleased in a subdued way because if nothing else this now gave him room to throw his attention into some serious room cleaning and restocking.

The nurse quickly learned to get out of his way.

"Okay, let me have a look," he said quietly, pulling on fresh gloves and drawing a stool over towards the bed.

The exam was done with quiet care, trying not to aggrivate the claw marks or cause any discomfort as he worked.

"There are a couple here that could have benefited from stitches but it's too late now. I'll clean the area up thoroughly and maybe butterfly bandage the deeper ones but I think a general course of antibiotics and thorough cleaning twice a day is your best course of action at this point."

"Thanks James. I wasn't about to come down here while Dr. Troy was on duty." She sighed. "Cole cleaned it and wrapped it up... and he and Anders have been hovering and making me rest it."

"Bel did a good job," Wilson said in a quiet tone as he worked on further cleaning out the cuts and then bandaging the worst.

"Rest is good but I don't think you need to baby it. I'd stay out of the pool or ocean for another week yet, so you don't risk getting an infection at this point. Otherwise, keep the cuts clean, OTC medication for pain and the oral antibiotics, all right?"

There was a definite distraction in his tone and as he worked.

Phoebe had been paying attention to this and she was worried.

"James?"

"Hmm?" Wilson acknowledged, head still bent as he wrote out the script for the antibiotics.

"What is it?"

It was almost instinctive to brush it all off with a quick and ready smile and move on to other subjects. Something he would have done as much as 6 months ago when Phoebe was still a student but really, this wasn't something so easily brushed aside and it was also time for Wilson to stop treating Phoebe like ... well, a student.

Standing up and shutting the exam room door, he also shut off the radio and then sat back down on the rolly stool.

"There ... something happened, last month. It's kinda hard to give you the details because some of it involves secrets that aren't mine to share but Lucifer was attacked to a point near death, even for an angel ... for the Lightbringer it's possible I guess and to save his life, I traded places with him and died in his stead."

Phoebe's eyes widened. She swallowed, taking deep breaths. "You.. you died?"

No, she wasn't flaily... on the outside.

Wilson nodeed, hands linked together and resting between his knees.

"She's actually quite, pretty in a strange sort of way. Good eye make up. Anyway, my soul ended up in the hands of someone with a vengence against Lucifer I guess. He sliced up my soul like you would a bolt of cloth and stitched me into a lantern. Not an experience I recommend by the way, it's very ... distressing."

Painful was another word for it but the mental and emotional agony of being trapped thus had been right on par with the 'physical' sensation.

"I don't know exactly what happened, you'd have to ask Aziraphale but evidently he had to chase down one of the conspirators in the attack on Lucifer, do something, he mentioned burning, to restore Lucifer's full power and then the two had to come find me. I ... get the impression that none of that, was as easy as it sounds just sitting here."

"No... it doesn't sound easy at all," she said softly. She moved off the table and went to him, wrapping her arms around him and holding him tightly. "I'm sorry seems so lame, Sib."

Reaching up he gently returned the hug fighting down a wince of his own due to shoulders that were still a bit sore.

"Lucifer was able to bring me back but things have been a bit rough. Aziraphale is ... he's having a hard time reconciling what he's always believed about his world against what's happened recently and our bond was broken due to my death so ... there's just a lot going on right now."

Phoebe bit her lip. "How can I help?"

After a moment's thought, Wilson pursed his lips and said.

"Talk to Raphale? He is really struggling with some things and it might help him to have someone who isn't myself or Lucifer to talk to about his own thoughts and feelings. I think he's afraid of over burdening me."

Phoebe nodded. "As soon as you're done with me and I think you don't need more hugs I'll go right over."

Handing over the script, Wilson gave her a tired sort of smile.

"You are free as a bird, my dear."

"You need anything... you call me, Sib?" It wasn't really a request.
