FTEC - Wednesday Day Shift [1/31]
It was Wednesday morning, which meant clinic time for Wilson. Checking in with the duty nurse and confirming there were no occupants in the clinic, Wilson grinned at Aziraphale as the angel settled into his habitual chair. Getting coffee started, the young doctor set up his laptop on the front desk and set about putting the finishing touches on their trip up north.

Coming over to her, he began to examine her...heart, bp, respiration, neck poke for enlarged nodes, stethescope...all that good stuff.
"How about your appetite? Has that been normal? You said Marty's witnessed a couple of these black-outs, have you been asleep or conscious but unaware of your actions at the time?"
Re: Exam 1 - Nadia
Though, to be honest, considering how much she'd had on her mind, that was normal.
"My appetite has been fine. And Marty said I passed out, but I really think I just feel asleep. Dreamed and everything."

"Anything different about the dreams?"

"Well." He began. "What you describe would normally sound like part of the symptomology of narcolepsy. However, given what has been going on in our lives recently and everything you've been through, I am hesitant to put you through the rigerous tests that would be required to make a definite diagnoses. Especially as my gut is telling me, that's not what this is about."
Leaning back against the counter, he watched her for a moment, then pursed his lips.
"That said, what I'd like you to do is to actually follow the non-medical treatments to help narcolepsy. Namely. Regulate your sleep pattern. Set yourself a reasonable 'to bed hour' and stick to it. It doesn't have to be 8pm at night, just make it something you will stick to night after night. Avoid heavy meals, avoid smoking and alcohol. If your day time schedule allows for it, schedule yourself some small naps. Even if you don't sleep at first, as with your bed time, make yourself lay down and just be quiet for 15-30 minutes but make it on your schedule."
Sighing softly, he again tapped the file on his thigh.
"Let's try this for a week. If nothing drastic changes between now and next Wednesday, come back in and we'll talk and see if you've seen any improvement. If, however, the episodes start to become more frequent or you notice anything odd about the dreams or your own physical state, come in immediately."
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out one of his little cards.
"Aziraphale and I are going to be out of town the next couple of days but I'll be back for my Saturday evening shift. However, if something happens between now and then, please...call me on my cell. Okay?"

cribbed from WebMDexplained."In a typical sleep cycle, we initially enter the early stages of sleep followed by deeper sleep stages and ultimately -after about 90 minutes- rapid eye movement -REM- sleep. For people suffering from narcolepsy, REM sleep occurs almost immediately in the sleep cycle as well as periodically during the waking hours. It is in REM sleep that we can experience dreams and muscle paralysis which explains some of the symptoms of narcolepsy."

". . . oh. I kinda thought someone had just put a spell on me, or something."
