FTEC, Friday Night, 5 January
Natalie was surprised to read that Dr. Wilson had regained consciousness. Pleasantly surprised, of course, but still surprised. She peeked in on her patient. Afterward, she settled in at the desk with her laptop and DVDs. It was another Fred and Ginger night, with her new "Volume 2" box set.

Exam 1, James Wilson
It's aliiiiiive!Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"Ow."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"Do you need something, love? Should I get the doctor, or...is there anything I can do? Where does it hurt? Would you like some water?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Aziraphale recognized the tired tone, and realized that his frantic dithering wasn't going to be of any help. So he scolded himself into pouring a glass of water, and helping Wilson drink a little of it.
"I can help the pain, love, if you'll let me."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Laying back, he closed his eyes and sighed. He'd had a chance to read his chart, the basilar skull fracture alone would knock him out of school for the semester, let alone the knife wound.
And he couldn't remember...how any of it had happened and that, really made him frown.
"I..." Wilson began before he shook his head, gingerly. "If I don't...I hate having you strain like that."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Aziraphale set the glass aside and touched his fingers to Wilson's cheek, easing some of the pain in his head. "I won't heal everything completely," he said in a softer voice. "Just enough for you to be able to get up and around, to come home and rest there, and heal better on your own."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
It was foolhardy to turn down Phale's offer and it was unfair to the angel. Without the assistance, he would be in the clinic for weeks, unable to do his job as a teacher or a doctor and straining Aziraphale's emotional resources as well.
"Do it." Wilson said softly. "The head, at least...so I can get out of here, stop taking up space and resources and hopefully be able to teach class."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Aziraphale could be stubborn when he needed to be, and he knew that part of the argument stemmed from that old fear Wilson had that the angel would put himself in danger. The more he did things to prove that the original incident had been an a rare case, the more he figure the young doctor would cease to worry.
Laying a hand against his lover's head, Aziraphale sent a soft, warm flow of healing energy. This was, as far as he was concerned, the most dangerous injury, and the one that it would be hardest for Wilson to manage if he were also trying to teach.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"That feels...thank you, lover mine." He said softly, already breathing easier.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"You still need to take care of yourself, and let the doctor's keep an eye on you. Regular checkups," he insisted, moving his hand to lay his palm over the bandage covering Wilson's abdomen. Again, there was a gentle glow and a healing warmth.
"I, er...already took care of the other injury," Aziraphale admitted.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"Other injury?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Aziraphale waved his hand toward Wilson's hand. "Your finger."
He gave the young doctor a penetrating look. "James love, do you remember what happened?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"I...I remember...getting out of the taxi, to walk to the Hyperion but...that's it." The young doctor blinked and then he scowled. "Which isn't right, there is obviously more that happened...why can't I remember it?"
Wilson's scowl deepened and he shifted restlessly.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"Hush, love. I'm certain that you'll remember after a while. You haven't been awake very long, things are probably still very hazy. And it was a...a traumatic experience. Isn't that the sort of thing that's always harder to remember?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"James love...that isn't important right now. We'll go over what happened later, after you've rested, and your mind has had a chance to recover." He fell silent for a moment, brushing the hair from his lover's eyes. "I don't know what you were facing down in your mind while you were asleep, but I know that it was difficult. Your mind needs rest as much as your body does. Memory is a tricky thing, and as a doctor you know that. Don't fret, love, just...just let me take you home, and help you get better."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
She arrived at the clinic and knocked lightly on the door, hoping not to disturb him, but grateful he was awake.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
being played out in the thread abovehe had a ready smile instead of the wan, sickly look of earlier."Marie!" Wilson's voice was still soft and a little tired sounding but his dark eyes were warm with welcome. "Come on in."

Smiling warmly, Wilson eyed the items in Marie's hand.
"How are you doing?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
She walked closer and handed him the envelope and the plainly wrapped package. "But I have a get well present for you."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"I've heard, you've been here. Thank you, Marie...it means a lot to me and I promise, I am well on the way to being back to my usual busy body self." He tried to gently reassure her, thinking it had to have been grossly unfair to her for him to scare her like this.
Looking down at the items she'd handed him, he opened the envelope first, drawing out the papers that Parker had arranged for them and smiling as he read through them. Passing them over to Phale for the angel to read and know about, Wilson broke into the plainly wrapped package next.
What he exposed...made him laugh, which made him grab his side but he still laughed.
"Oh, Marie...that's perfect!" He exclaimed, holding up the book The Complete Idiot's Guide to Raising a Teenager for Aziraphale to see as well.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Yep, he was totally blaming it all on Wilson. The man could take it, he was feeling better. And the angel figured it would help everyone to keep the conversation light.
He laughed softly at the book, setting aside the papers to take the book and flip through it. "Goodness, I expect this will come in handy."

Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"Well, neither are we exactly experts with raising teenagers either." He admitted with a grin. "But I imagine we'll get on well enough. So, do you have time to help Raphale help me get back up to the new house? Which I haven't even seen the inside of yet?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"I'll get some clothes," he said quickly, suddenly realizing that he hadn't changed anything but his sweater in days. And thinking how glad he was that he possessed a naturally fastidious nature.

That was how Aziraphale viewed it, anyway, and no one was going to convince him otherwise.
A set of clothing just happened to be neatly folded at the foot of the bed, and he smiled at Marie. "I'll get him dressed, if you'll gather up all the books and goodies people have brought?"

modded with permissionangel. He was reminded that Natalie had been the doctor who had seen to Phale's wounds when the angel had gotten injured while fighting the trolls so she knew what she was talking about."Err...speaking of that." He began, looking sheepish but also firm. "I think, maybe after I've caught my breath here, I think it's time I stop hogging clinic resources. Healing in the comfort of one's own home and all that?"
He did sort of put it as a question, because he didn't want her to feel like he was riding rough shod over her or her opinion.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Her expression was serious, but a hint of amusement could be found in her eyes. She arched her brow.
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"I'd probably be a complete hypocrite and lecture on the importance of proper rest and care." He admitted. Then he grinned. "To which I would expect you to argue that you could rest better in the quiet comfort of your own home and then you would promise to come in for follow-up check ups and...then I'd sign you out?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Still shaking her head, she sighed. "I'll go and get the paperwork ready. When you're ready, I'll be at the desk." She narrowed her eyes in appraisal. "I don't suppose I could talk you into borrowing a wheelchair -- at least for the long walk home?"
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
"I will even initial that I am a damn fool for going against your better judgement." He agreed, smiling. "Aziraphale can wing me home, if I get to tired out...and Natalie? Thank you."
Re: Exam 1, James Wilson
Gathering her things, she nodded to the angel, then swept out of the room.
