He didn't know when, and he didn't know how, but somehow, Trevor had gotten hooked on Spooky Things. He'd managed to acquire a copy of the first season on DVD, and was currently settled behind the front desk, trying to get caught up on his viewing.

Luke, covered in cuts and bruises, dripping wet and missing a hand, stumbled into the clinic.

"Help?"

Trevor frowned when he spotted the boy and his injured state, and immediately went over to him. "What happened?"

Luke's teeth began chattering. "Fell off the cliff," he said after a moment.

"That doesn't sound like a good experience at all," Trevor said, looking him over for more obvious injuries. "Come on, let's get you into one of the exam rooms (http://community.livejournal.com/fandom_clinic/233431.html?thread=6459095#t6459095)."

Trevor led Luke into the room and immediately sat him down, wrapping a blanket around him to deal with the cold and wet first.

Luke wrapped the blanket around himself and looked around for the bacta tank.

Satisfied with the first step, Trevor tried to give Luke a reassuring smile. "All right. I think the two most important questions are what's your name and what hurts the most?"

"My name's Luke Skywalker and I used to have two hands," Luke said, voice trembling.

It was only through some years of experience that Trevor managed to keep his face calm when Luke said that. "Well then, I'd better start there," he said, grabbing some gauze and carefully taking Luke's arm to wrap up the wound. "I know this might not be helpful, but you're very lucky to have taken such a fall and still be standing." Once Luke's wrist was wrapped up, he moved on to clean up the rest of the visible cuts.

Luke was staring off into space, looking traumatized. "Lucky?"

"Perhaps lucky wasn't the right choice of a word," Trevor replied as he continued to check Luke. "Is whoever or whatever took your hand still out there?"

Luke shook his head, visibly uncomfortable speaking about what had happened. "It's not going to hurt anyone else," he said quietly.

After searching the dorms, and not finding Luke anywhere, Rory had thought like a Skywalker and realized that the next place she should look would be the clinic.

Which was why a cold Rory was pushing the door open and hurrying in. "Luke! What happened?"

Luke took one look at Rory and burst into tears.

Not a great start.

"Luke," she said, more softly, shutting the door and going over to his bed. "Luke, honey, what's wrong? Who hurt you? Was it Vader? I'll kill him."

She reached for his hand, and paused. "Oh my God."

Luke turned his head away. "Not a good night," he sniffled.

"Luke," she whispered, gently stroking his hair. "Luke, tell me what happened. Why didn't you want me to go outside?"

"I saw you die," Luke choked out, "like I saw Leia die on Tuesday." He took another breath. "So I went to stop him from doing it. It didn't work according to plan."

"You saw me die," she repeated. "You had a vision? Vader did this to you?"

Luke winced visibly at the name of Vader, then nodded.

"I'm going to kill him," Rory said, eyes flashing as she started to get up. "He knows to leave you alone."

Luke reached his left hand out towards her. "You can't," he whispered, face crumpling again.

"Yes, Luke, I can," she said, running her hand over his hair. "It's okay, I'll get Aeryn and Sam and the other badasses to help."

"You can't," Luke said, voice cracking. "He's my father."

"...no, Luke, Anakin was your father," Rory said, blinking.

Luke looked at her, his eyes filling up with tears.

And it suddenly clicked.

"No," Rory whispered, her knees buckling and forcing her to kneel by Luke's bed. "No, no, no, no, no."

Luke reached out again, rather desperate for some human contact. "It's true," he whispered, through his tears. "He told me."

Rory was hyperventilating, trying to regain some control over what she'd just been told.

She finally looked up at Luke and took his hand in both of hers. "I have to go. I'll be back, I - I promise, but I have to go," she stammered, fighting back tears as she pressed a kiss to his fingers and squeezed his hand. "I promise I'll come back, but I have to go deal with this."

Luke nodded, curling in on himself. "Hurry?"

"I'll run," she promised, swallowing hard and finally letting go of his hand.

"Ben, why didn't you tell me?" Luke asked, then cried himself to sleep.
