FTEC, Thursday Evening, October 26

It had been a long week so far, and Trevor was disappointed every time he realized it wasn't over yet. He made sure to check in on Walter before settling behind the front desk and looking for something on TV that would relax him.

Nadia's back in a chair in Walter's room, the blanket Pippi brought her wrapped over her shoulders like a shawl.

Alphonse rushed on over towards the clinic once he heard Nadia's message she left him-- which was very belated on his part, stupid of him, he'd thought. He peered into the quiet room, hesitant to break any of the silence. "Nadia?"

Nadia looked up slowly. "Hey, Al. You got my message?"

"I did," Alphonse answered, taking slow steps into the room. "What happened?" he asked carefully.

Nadia pulled her feet up on the chair and rested her arms on her knees. "His metabolism's gone nuts. It's killing him."

Alphonse's stomach nearly tied up in a knot upon hearing that. "Do the doctors know what to do?" he asked again, this time more hopefully.

He wasn't sure if he should offer, but Alphonse knew he would've felt worse if he didn't. "Okay. Then... I don't mind helping, with anything at all. If you need it."

Nadia nodded slowly. She felt sort of . . . detached from it all. "Thanks, Al."

Alphonse placed a hand on Nadia's shoulder, squeezing it comfortably. "Of course," he replied softly. He paused before continuing on; "He only mentioned he was sick. I didn't know it was something that would..." he trailed off, not wanting to finish that statement.

"Apparently he didn't tell anyone else. He barely told me."

"He did seem kind of hesitant to even mention that much to me," Alphonse said, recoiling his hand behind his back again.

She's got another basket with her.

"Hey Pippi." Nadia smiled slightly. "Get any info in Science class?"

Nadia nodded. Made sense, really. If it were learnable in class, then the doctors here would already know it. "Ah."

She held up the basket.

"Dinner?"

Pippi unpacked some small shepherds pies and a large crystal ball.

Walter's favorite. Cafe Fina was delivering well. "Can we . . . look . . . first?"

"... Yeah." Pippi nodded.

Nadia shifted slowly to the floor, pausing to run her fingers along Walter's arm for a moment. "Right. Let's do it."

Pippi sat down on the floor across from Nadia holding the ball in one hand. With the other she reached up and took Walter's hand.

Going off what she learned in Phale's class, she took a deep breath and concentrated on the sphear.
