"The problem is I was shot in the arm," El said, rolling up his sleeve, "And Dr. Wilson said I should take it in to get x-rayed. Just to be sure, he said."
"Well, Dr. Wilson is certainly correct," said Janet. "Did you come to the clinic when you were initially wounded? Is the area around the wound reddened and inflamed, and tender to the touch? Are you displaying a fever, or any other sign of infection?"
"I was out of town at the time and the hospital wasn't an option. Don't ask, it's better you not know. Dr. Wilson washed the wound out with alcohol and hot water. I don't think he said anything about it being infected."
Janet raised her eyebrows and stared flatly at El Mariachi. "I certainly don't care what you were doing while you were shot. And while I have the utmost respect for Dr. Wilson's medical skills, he can't detect infection before it begins, and infection is most definitely not going to begin that early." Janet glanced back at the clinic. "Please follow me to Exam Room One, and we'll begin an initial examination."
